Job Description

Job Title: Visitor Experience AmbassadorReports to: Visitor Experience ManagerThis part-time position will be 16-35 hours per week and requires weekend availability.General Description: The Visitor Experience Ambassador will be responsible for encouraging and guiding FortWhyte Alive Visitors to explore, learn and connect with nature so as to further our mission and mandate. This individual will help operate the Nature Shop by providing information about products to Visitors, maintaining stock and displays, as well as by processing all sales transactions. This individual will have strong customer service, organizational and problem-solving skills.Key Responsibilities:

  • Greet all Visitors and promote FortWhyte Alive’s attractions, activities, programs and events
  • Provide high quality customer service to ensure positive Visitor experiences
  • Process sales transactions for admissions, memberships and program fees, amongst others
  • Answer incoming telephone calls, directing them to appropriate staff members or providing answers to general questions
  • Ensure Orgnizational materials for Visitors are fully stocked, such as brochure racks and property maps
  • Record Visitor attendance statistics daily, and report on the stats when requested
  • Tally cash deposits, and close the till at the end of each day
  • Responsible for opening and closing the Alloway Reception Centre and the main property gate
  • Foster positive relationships with a variety of volunteers
  • Develop relationships with Visitors, donors and members
  • Assist customers and process sales from the Nature Shop
  • Gain a broad knowledge of vendors and products for sale
  • Assist the Retail and Visitor Experience Coordinator in ordering and sourcing local products
  • Price, display and re-stock Nature Shop inventory
  • Monitor stock movement and inventory levels and notify Retail and Visitor Experience Coordinator when stock is low
  • Order special requests for out of stock inventory items
  • Assist with the ongoing maintenance, organization and cleaning of the store, stockroom and “nest”
  • Order supplies as needed for the Nature Shop & Buffalo Stone Cafe
  • Assist with COVID-19 related sanitizing duties including: maintaining a sanitized workspace, cleaning commonly touched surfaces within the Alloway Reception Centre, and bathroom sanitizing as needed
  • Assist with special mailings
  • Assist Accountant with various activities
  • Maintain visitor database as required
  • Assist during evening events
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Demonstrated interest in and commitment to FortWhyte Alive’s Mission and Mandate
  • Retail experience is an asset
  • Experience in hospitality and tourism industry is an asset
