We’re united by a shared commitment to excellent and equitable health care.Position OverviewDirectly reporting to the Manager of Volunteer Services, this position is responsible for the recruitment, retention, scheduling, placement, evaluation and recognition of volunteers assisting in programs at Seven Oaks General Hospital, supporting the Manager of Volunteer Services, as well as the day to day operations of the Volunteer Services Department.Experience

  • Two (2) years’ experience working in the volunteer services sector including:
    • Volunteer recruitment, interviewing, screening, problem solving, orientation and training, coaching, support and feedback.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
  • Successful completion of a post-secondary education diploma or certificate in volunteer management, health care administration, and/or Administrative Assistant.
  • A combination of education and experience may be considered.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Demonstrated excellent and effective verbal and written communication, interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Demonstrated excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and assignments.
  • Proficiency in computer operating systems (i.e. Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) and database management systems.
  • Working knowledge of Volunteer Management software programs such as Better Impact or comparable preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn new computer operating systems (i.e. Volunteer management program, MS Teams, etc.).
  • Demonstrated ability to problem solve with tact and diplomacy wherever possible at the lowest level and escalating accordingly.
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative and work independently.
  • Demonstrated ability to produce accurate work with attention to detail.
  • Effective, respectful and courteous interpersonal communication skills for interaction with all levels of employees, management, volunteers and general public.
  • Works within SOGH core values, Mission, Vision and Values, policies and procedures.
Physical Requirements
  • Majority of the hours will be during the day with some occasional evenings and weekends required.
  • Physically able to meet the demands of the department. This includes the ability to attend work on patient units to support and evaluate volunteers, special events and other activities as assigned (i.e. complete patient survey’s, patient elections, virtual visits, etc.
  • Some periods of sedentary work may be required.
  • Ability to multi-task and function in a high-volume office with frequent interruptions and good judgement in determining priorities.
This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.Please note that an employee is not permitted to hold two or more positions across the WRHA legal entity that combine to equal more than 1.0 EFT.
