  • Pursuant to CAR 706.03 and CAR 573.03 the Person Responsible for Maintenance is the specified Person Responsible for Maintenance, as defined in the above regulations. The person appointed to this position shall meet the requirements of CAR 706.03 and CAR 573.03, and is duly authorized to remove aircraft from service in accordance with CAR 706.03 (1) ©. The Person Responsible for Maintenance is responsible to the President
  • Primary responsibility is to affect the efficient Maintenance of all aircraft on lease or belonging to Perimeter Aviation, to meet both the schedules and unscheduled operational requirements. This will include maintenance of records, scheduling of inspections, and close liaison with all support functions. Final authority for coordinating maintenance rests with the Person Responsible for Maintenance
Primary duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Responsible for monitoring the effectiveness of the Quality Assurance Program and the Evaluation Program
  • Responsible for ensuring that maintenance programs are Transport Canada approved
  • Maintain a close liaison with Stores Manager for all requirements of aircraft parts, accessories and components, etc
  • Authorization of certifications for Aircraft Certification Authority, Shop Certification Authority and Elementary maintenance/servicing
  • Ensure that any approved Vendor or Approved Maintenance Organization, used by the operator, meets the applicable procedures as defined in the MPM, sec 6.1.
  • Maintain a close liaison with Airframe and Engine Manufacturers and Contractors Service Support Departments covering in or out of Company repairs
  • Protection against fire, theft, misuse or exposure to the elements of all Company Aircraft and assets entrusted to the Maintenance/Engineering Department
  • Carry out such maintenance operations on Company and other aircraft as shall satisfy the safety standards of Perimeter Aviation and Transport Canada, and which meet the normal and proper requirements of scheduled operations
  • Develop, maintain and control the company Maintenance Control Manual and Maintenance Policy Manual, with any other publications incorporated by reference.
  • Develop and maintain the Safety Management System (SMS) for the maintenance department, cooperation with the company SMS Program. Refer to details outlined in SMS Policies and Procedures Manuals

  • Assist and step in for department as required
  • Education and Experience
  • Minimum 8 years relevant professional experience within a large airline organization in progressively more responsible positions
  • 6+ years of progressive managerial experience at the department director/manager level
  • Sound understanding of risk management and all aspects of the business model
  • Demonstrated ability to manage key constituent relationships, including Finance, Legal, Human Resources and Transport Canada
  • Ability to identify key issues; creatively and strategically overcome internal challenges or obstacles
  • A clear and solid understanding of personnel policies, practices, and procedures and other operational issues faced by the organization
  • Strong knowledge of fiscal management and responsibility, business finance, capital funding, contracts, and partnerships is required
  • Experience creating and managing budgets for a large, distributed organization
  • Knowledge of airline industry, specifically with regard to flight operations techniques, procedures and regulations (TC, TSB, CTA, ICAO, FAA etc.)
  • Excellent PC skills particularly with MS Office programs (Word, Access, Excel, Power Point and Outlook)
  • Working knowledge of WinAir
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English; additional language skills would be an asset
  • High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) equivalent
  • Indigenous and Cultural Awareness Training considered an asset
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain any applicable Working Conditions
  • Physically able to perform all listed job duties
  • Travel by aircraft and other means as required by role
  • Work performed primarily in an office environment
  • Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and telephone
  • Attend and conduct presentations
