Job Description

WHILL Autonomous Device Airport AmbassadorLocation: WinnipegThe WHILL autonomous device is a motorized, self-driving wheelchair designed to facilitate transportation for persons with reduced mobility who chose to opt-in for the service. A video link about this service can be found here -> https://youtu.be/vJWhwNnUPRsWhat You Will DoAs the Airport Ambassador, you will be responsible for assisting passengers who choose to utilize the WHILL autonomous device transportation within the Winnipeg James Armstrong Richardson International Airport.You will assist and guide passengers and WHILL Devices before, during and after the WHILL autonomous device journey.What That Actually Involves

  • Pre-Journey: Work with relevant stakeholders inside the airport on helping to navigate the passengers to the service or occasionally encourage the passenger to take a ride. When applicable, assist passengers when taking a seat in the WHILL device and place luggage in the device luggage rack. Provide a brief orientation of the service and how the device works to the passenger or the airport stakeholders.
  • Mid-Journey: Assist the passenger by manually pushing them through the landside security checkpoint. Assist passenger with luggage for security screening if needed. When applicable, assist passenger standing up out of WHILL device to walk through security screening. Hand over to CATSA for screening with or without the passenger on the device.
  • Post-Journey: Monitor active airside devices on the WHILL Operations Portal (remote monitoring system.) Provide airside assistance as needed and complete incident reports for any out of the ordinary events or errors during shift.
Qualifications
  • Must have exceptional customer service skills.
  • Project a positive, friendly image when interacting with passengers, airline staff, airport operations and the general public.
  • Must be comfortable working in a busy/active airport environment.
  • Able to effectively work and communicate with a variety of airport entities.
  • Ability to pass a background check and additional screening as specified by Airport operations.
  • Must be able to stand and walk up to 8 hours per day.
  • Must be able to assist passengers into and out of a seated position.
  • Ability to lift and maneuver 50lbs. [MO1] [DP2] [MO3]
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and follow verbal and written instructions in English.
  • Must be eligible to work in Canada.
Work Hours and Rate:
  • Monday – Friday 8:30am-5:00pm
  • Hourly Rate: $18/hr.
