Job Description

Contract Work; 10 Hours Per MonthPay: $350 Per Month, 12-Month ContractApplication deadline: August 1, 2022The Get REAL Movement is a Canadian non-profit focused on combatting 2SLGBTQ+ discrimination, racism, and bullying in schools, summer camps, and workplaces. We accomplish this by offering a variety of different educational Workshop modules, and by providing leadership development and marginalized youth support through our University Chapters, our High School After-School Program, our 2SLGBTQ+ Virtual Counselling Program, and our Summits. Our programming aims to break down prejudice, promote unity, and foster compassion in our world.We are looking for two dynamic coordinators to lead our Manitoba After-School Program, which has provided year-long mentorship for 2SLGBTQ+ youth and allies aged 13-17 since 2019. The goal of this program is to provide participating youth with a safe space to learn new skills, access to new experiences completely free of financial barriers, and creating and facilitating programming that has a positive effect on mental wellbeing, self-confidence, and sense of community.Reporting to Executive Directors Chris Studer and Marley Bowen, we are looking for two co-Coordinators who will be in charge of managing our After-School Program in Manitoba.If you’re looking for a flexible job that fits around your schedule, allows you to connect with other like-minded people, and see a meaningful impact on youth in Winnipeg, this might be the role for you!Responsibilities:

  • Manage outreach and communications about the After-School Program to schools in the Winnipeg area
  • Manage planning, development, and logistics of 9 After-School sessions and 4 After-School field trips for the 2022-2023 school year
  • Show up on time and prepared for sessions
  • Manage impact reporting by collecting student and parent testimonials, survey data, and media over the course of the school year
  • Manage media, social media and communications about the program throughout the year
  • Share program learnings at Get REAL’s annual Born This Way Summit in June
  • Provide monthly progress updates to Executive Directors
  • Provide support with grant-writing and fundraising for the program
Qualifications:
  • 3+ years’ experience working with youth in a leadership development, camp counsellor role
  • Lived experience navigating heterosexism/cissexism
  • Basic understanding of intersectionality, privilege and oppression and 2SLGBTQ+ knowledge
  • Comfortable in front of groups of people
  • Flexible schedule for most administrative tasks (strategic planning, providing updates to Get REAL leadership team, etc.) and 4x planned field trips, as well as consistent evening schedule for the 9x planned evening sessions
  • Experience public speaking is an asset
  • Experience working with Indigenous and Two Spirit youth is an asset
  • G Level Drivers License is an asset
  • Fluent in English and French is an asset
