We’re united by a shared commitment to excellent and equitable health care.Position OverviewThe Women’s Group Leader is responsible for creating a group in Churchill that will focus on women in the community. The group will work closely with The Warrior Caregiver program and The Subarctic Friendship Circle to support life-promotion for all generations.Experience

  • A minimum of 1-year education and/or mentorship experiences especially with vulnerable and/or marginalized population.
  • A combination of education and experience working alongside women as a leader may be considered and/or strong background in the ‘arts’ and trades including music, carving, carpentry, painting, murals, etc.
  • Indigenous traditions and practices, and protocols (such as with traditional medicines, drumming, ceremony, regalia, trapping, hunting, butchering, etc.)
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
  • Complete high school education, Manitoba standards, required.
  • A degree, diploma or certificate in a related area is an asset.
  • Intermediate level of proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint).
  • Licenses and certifications in various land-based activities such as Manitoba Boating license, PAL, Hunter Safety, Wilderness First Aide, Class 4 Driver’s License, Polar Bear Guard, for example.
Certification/Licensure/Registration
  • Eligible for registration with applicable professional licensing body if applicable.
  • The ability to drive, including the willingness to become certified in a Class 4 driver’s and operate machinery such as a snowmobile, ATV, and/or boat.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Demonstrated leadership experience with small groups.
  • Demonstrated practice with Indigenous communities.
  • Must be innovative, highly motivated and an energetic team player.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills are required to develop strong interpersonal relationship between different groups, age ranges and especially groups from different cultural backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate group activities.
  • Demonstrated commitment to continued professional development.
  • Excellent written communication skills are required to produce correspondences.
  • Experience working under pressure and manage unexpected changes under stress.
  • Strong capacity to work alone at times and in small groups away from other staff and colleagues.
Physical Requirements
  • A willingness to travel throughout the year.
  • A willingness to work a variety of times including evenings, weekends, and weekdays.
Salary is commensurate with education and qualifications.This term position may end earlier as outlined in your collective bargaining agreementThis position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred.
