Job Description

At SMS Equipment, our Accounts Payable Clerks are fantastic with time management, organization, and attention to details. Reporting to the Accounts Payable Team Lead, this position works closely with the other members of the Accounts Payable team, senior accounting and branch staff to ensure accurate and timely processing and reporting of accounting information.Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Verifying scanned data capture of a high volume of vendor invoices
  • Coding of cost invoices to the general ledger account
  • Matching vendor invoices to receipts on purchase orders
  • Calculating Purchase price variances between invoice & receipt
  • Routing invoices electronically for approvals according to an authorization matrix
QualificationsThis position requires education in Finance, Accounting or a related field, or AP experience. Additional qualifications include, but are not limited to:
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment
  • Exceptional time management, organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to take initiative and recommend/ implement process changes
  • Ability to understand complex AP processes
  • Understanding of accounting and controls
  • Bilingual (French/English) would be an asset
