Job Description

Position Scope:Reporting to BNA Shop Supervisor, you will assume responsibility for Remanufacturing heavy equipment drivetrain components & hydraulic cylinders. This role requires the basic understanding of both hand and power tools, have a knowledge of precision tools to inspect and determine reusability of piece parts of a remanufactured component, as well as the safe operation of cranes to be able to disassemble and visually inspect parts of a remanufactured component.Schedule is 7x7 (to start shift will be 5x2 for up to 60 days for training purposes)We have different levels of Bench Hand, based on successful candidates qualifications rate will be determined based on experience.Bench Hand I - $24.73 to 26.79Bench Hand II - $27.82 to 29.88Bench Hand III - $31.94 - $34.00Successful candidates will have to join the Operating Engineers Local 955.Responsibilities:

  • Participate in morning PSI Meeting.
  • Participate in Weekly Safety Meeting.
  • Lead team by example, demonstrating the proper procedures and processes to follow
  • Ensure adequate and suitable safety equipment, including PPE, is properly used and maintained.
  • Review safe work plans / hazard assessment prior to job commencement.
  • Participate in incident investigations and prepare associated support documentation immediately.
  • Ensure the effective use of the work order system.
  • Move parts by operating overhead cranes, lifts, and carts.
  • Document parts that are needed using the part number and appropriate description
  • Maintain a clean, safe facility and work area.
  • Determine assemble/disassemble process by reading and following work instructions, understanding drawings and schematics, and safe work procedures.
  • Basic knowledge of computer applications.
Qualifications:
  • Knowledge about maintenance, and a general knowledge of mechanical aspects or equivalent work experience.
  • High school diploma
  • Forklift operating certificate
  • Overhead crane operating certificate
  • Able to operate forklift, skid steers, small loaders
  • Must have valid class 5 drivers license
  • Always demonstrate safety
  • Be proficient in English, both verbally and written
  • Basic computer literacy/skills.
  • Exerience around heavy equipment is an asset.
Summary:All successful candidates must:

  • Have experience as requested as mentioned above
  • Subject to Random Testing at: Suncor, Suncor Fort Hills and Kearl sites
  • Disclose COVID-19 vaccination status:
  • Fully immunized individuals must provide government issued proof of vaccination to be exempt from site testing requirements
  • Individuals not fully immunized may be subject to site COVID-19 testing requirements and associated costs
  • Undergo and successfully pass the following testing:
  • Breath Alcohol Test
  • Urine Drug Test
  • Fitness-to-Work Assessment
  • Audiometric Testing
  • Vision Screening
  • Criminal Record Check
All successful candidates MUST provide the following items prior to confirmation of their start date:
  • CSO or BSO Certification
  • CSTS Certification and OSSA Regional only required if candidate does not have the above certification
  • Copy of Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
  • Copy of recent Driver’s Abstract
  • VOID cheque/direct deposit form
