Job Description

At SMS Equipment, our Finance Co-op student will be offered the opportunity to put their learned skills into action. In this role, the incumbent will be fantastic with time management, have great attention to details and have excellent organizational skills. We are looking for an enthusiastic student who is currently enrolled in a post-secondary program and want to learn more about their chosen career.Responsibilities included, but not limited to:

  • Analyze financial data to ensure accuracy and enable effective business decisions
  • Perform treasury activities, such as daily banking and cash flow forecasting
  • Reconciles Balance Sheet accounts including subledgers
  • Ensures quality of data in information reporting
  • Conduct activities such as reporting, budgeting, analytics, forecasting and business recommendations
  • Prepare reports to guide decision making
  • Troubleshoot ERP system transaction errors. Coordinate with Finance ERP Business Analysts to resolve recurring transaction problems through user training, process development or vendor system development.
  • Seek to automate/simplify reporting to improve accuracy
  • Support Finance Branch oversight processes
  • Special projects/ad-hoc analysis
Qualifications:The ideal candidate will be currently enrolled in Commerce or Business Administration studies specializing in Accounting or Finance, pursuing their CPA Accounting designation.
  • Possesses highly developed analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Proficient with MS Office, with strong knowledge of Excel
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to influence, collaborate, and build strong relationships
  • Proven ability to: balance work/school/life commitments; produce quality work on time; proactively tackle roadblocks; and leverage others when needed
