POSITION TITLE:Entry Level 1st Year Apprentice Heavy Equipment TechnicianDEPARTMENT:ServiceREPORTS TO:Shop ForemanKEY DIRECT REPORTS:N/APRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:Responsible for Diagnosing, repairing and inspecting Customer equipment and performing maintenance as required.Repairs can include the following systems: Fuel, Lubrication, Powertrain, engine, Cooling, HVAC, Exhaust, Engine control, Electrical, Electronic, Suspension, Steering, Brakes (Hydraulic/Air) and frame componentsWill be working in Shop, yard and maybe required to go to Customer location occasionallyKEY POSITION FUNCTIONS:Diagnose equipment/truck problems and determine required repairsEnsure Customer’s unit is performing proper operationAccurately communicate repair diagnosis to Shop Foreman and Service WritersRecord any other defects found and report to Foreman and Service Writers to ensure Customer is awareAssist in determination if failure is warrantableComplete required repairs in an efficient mannerDemonstrate continuous efforts to help the Shop improve Customer turn around and streamline work processesFollow all Manufacturer guidelines when doing repairs and maintenanceInstall rig up equipment on Customer and New Sales units as requiredPerform repairs with respect to ensure the unit/parts don’t get damagedComplete all necessary paperwork for Work Order ProcessesJustify time spent on repairs with adequate corrective storiesEnsure all required documentation is acquired and filed with the work orderEnsure your technician punch time is accurate on the work order and make necessary corrections immediatelyComplete required dealer training by the training end datesMaintain up to date knowledge on product and new information as releasedAssist other employees as needed to promote a friendly learning environmentTreat all Company/Customer and fellow employee’s property with respectAdhere to workplace safety policies, regulations and compliancesReport any unsafe conditions or accidents/injuries immediately to your Shop Foreman/ManagerQUALIFICATION &EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:Valid Class 5 Driver’s License with reliable transportation to and from workObtain and maintain adequate tooling to perform repairs except for supplied equipment/specialty toolingMust have roller toolbox, laptopAbility to work independently and as a member of a teamBe professional and courteous with customer’s and peersAbility to multitaskAble to work flexible hours to accommodate department demandsPreferred you are Registered in the Rap Program/apprentice programClass 1 or 3 License considered an asset
