Job Description

SMS Equipment is looking for Hydraulic Component Technicians for our Reman department located in Acheson AB. They will provide ongoing support to remanufacture heavy equipment components by providing the mechanical and or hydraulic expertise support. We are looking for a candidate who bring their organization, precision and positivity to the team.Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Disassembly, remanufacture repair, assembly, and testing of major components for heavy equipment including mining related equipment. Front corner groups, rear suspensions, rear axle assemblies, gear boxes, swing transmissions, hydraulic pumps and breaks.
  • Work performed must meet OEM specifications, standard hour expectations, and be conducted in accordance with the shop Quality Management System.
  • Cleaning incoming cores and preparing components for inspect and quotation.
  • Interpret work order and technical manuals.
  • Complete job specific reports and paperwork as needed.
  • Have a strong awareness and attitude towards workplace health and safety.
  • Motivated and able to work in a challenging environment with minimal supervision.
  • Employ logic and deductive reasoning in diagnosing and troubleshooting.
Qualifications:
  • Extensive experience in a mechanical shop or in an industrial environment where the nature of the work performed is specialized and recurring in nature.
  • Trades certification is preferred
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • The ability to use precision measuring tools along with hand and power tools.
  • The ability to follow instruction, utilize shop and assembly manuals and be able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Possess a strong work ethic, a commitment to excellence, acute safety awareness.
  • The ability and attitude to ensure compliance to all workplace health and safety policies.
  • Effective interpersonal skills, including tact and diplomacy with a variety of individuals and groups.
