Job Description

At SMS Equipment, our Logistics Coordinator plays key role in the execution, direction, and coordination of all transportation matters within the Western Region. The incumbent will direct transportation activities, develop transportation relationships and monitor transportation costs. We are looking for a candidate who will bring their experience, knowledge and positivity to the team!Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Ensures customs and brokerage compliancy for Western Region. Develops and implements processes to ensure compliancy with customs and brokerage requirements. Administers contracts with customs and brokerage agencies.
  • Ensures timely and cost-effective transport of equipment and parts from major suppliers to required destinations. Develops Equipment Freight Matrix on an annual basis. Develops, implements and administers processes for both international and domestic freight. Establishes processes for international FCL freight as well as international air freight from Komatsu Mining Germany. Establishes processes for FTL freight from major suppliers including Komatsu, Sandvik, Hensley and Trinity.
  • Works with branches to ensure local freight requirements meet company standards relative to cost and service. Conducts periodic reviews of price and service in branch locations. Establishes corporate programs for local freight and courier service.
QualificationsThe successful candidate will have 3-5 years logistics and freight administration and the ability to develop, negotiate and administer contracts. Additional qualifications include:
  • Excellent computer proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities.
  • Planning and organizational skills, including the ability to meet deadlines and complete projects.
  • Ability to work independently and/ or as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of company and customer standards and procedures as applicable.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with a wide variety of individuals and groups.
  • Ability to analyze budgetary expenditures for compliance with approved budget.
  • Detail oriented
