Our successful candidate is intrinsically motivated and committed to making safe choices, when completing all tasks.Production Manager, RemanReporting to the Operations Manager, Reman; the Production Manager plans, organizes and directs, through functional area leaders, the production operations of the Remanufacturing facility. The Production Manager is responsible for driving results related to Safety, Quality, Cost & Delivery by developing and managing short and long term planning strategies, processes, and events that foster a positive experience for internal and external customers.Responsibilities:SafetyEnsure Production staff understands and follows SMS safety policies, procedures and work instructionsSupport the safety culture by encouraging staff to identify new hazards or develop better methods of controlling / reducing risk.Ensure action plans related to incidents or findings are executed.Provide oversight for the day to day Production of the Reman departmentEnsure daily/ weekly/ monthly production targets are communicated and executed upon.Ensure production capacity (space, equipment, people) is aligned with achieving production needs and adapt as required.Oversee the production planning process to ensure execution and alignment with Inventory requirements. Coordinate with the Component Coordinator to prioritize work in process (WIP).Oversee turn around time and WIP management performance to ensure component assets are being efficiently utilized.Capacity PlanningCreate workforce flexibility plans.Evaluate and propose tooling/ capital requirements based on future production requirements.Recommend workforce requirements based on forecast updates.QualityIn coordination with the Quality Assurance department, identify and prioritize quality improvement opportunities and develop sustainable action plans.In coordination with the Quality Assurance department, investigate warranty claims and help provide customer responses where required.FinancialIn coordination with the Costing Manager, regularly review cost vs. standard variances and develop action plans.Work with the Costing Manager and General Foreman to identify new opportunities for cost savings in labour, material reuse, salvage or consumables.Manage overall overtime usage and labour utilization.Continuous ImprovementParticipate or lead continuous improvement initiatives related to Reman’s strategy.Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:Possess excellent oral and written communication skills to effectively interact with internal and external stakeholders.Be an effective listener and have the ability to converse with a diverse set of personality types.Be an effective facilitator with the ability to engage people when exploring opportunities or delivering key messages.Be a self starter with the ability to multi-task.Must possess general knowledge of the Komatsu product line which SMS Equipment Inc. currently sells and services.Post Secondary Degree/ Diploma or related trade preferable.
