Job Description

Reporting to the Fleet Manager, Shop Foreman will work with transportable industrial accommodations and other types of factory built, modular structures. Shop Foreman is responsible for overseeing all shop and yard activities of construction trades, truck drivers and subcontractors involved in the construction, camp set up and delivery of equipment, tankers and transportable industrial accommodations. The incumbent must follow applicable building codes focusing on safety, quality and accuracy of wok and shall be adaptable to changing roles within the function. The work schedule is 5 days on and 2 days off, Monday to Friday. This is a permanent, full-time, hourly position.Key ResponsibilitiesSupervise all shop and yard activities, which includes repair and maintenance on Fleet camp assets, loading and offloading units, yard maintenance, equipment operation, etc.Supervise activities of all trades working on site, including carpenters , machine operators, laborers and sub-contractors.Monitor workflow and labor levels to identify work force requirements, which includes capacity planning, auditing standard work and ensuring employees have competency levels and training required to perform the job.Support Fleet Manager in ensuring project cost efficiency and effectiveness by managing labor hours and expenditures.Supervise services such as signage, site cleaning and maintenance, parking, inspections and snow removal.Develop and follow preventive maintenance programs, including schedules and procedures for Fleet asset maintenance, yard maintenance, safety and physical inspections of equipment to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and QA/QC documentation.Ensure Renovation projects are completed as scheduled, which includes prioritization, establishing methods to meet work schedules, coordinating work activities with other departments and meeting the commitments.Resolve work problems and recommend measures to improve productivity and quality of services.Prepare work progress and other regular reports.Ensure departmental compliance with HSE legislation and company policies including maintaining current knowledge, enforcing provisions and ensuring employee training.Take a leading role in daily safety meetings and JHA preparation with the yard team and subcontractors.Conduct Hazard Assessments including providing input for Safe Work Procedures and Safe Work Practices (SWPs).Support culture of continuous improvement. Review and support suggestions for improvements and generate new ideas.Follow all company, job and client-specific safety protocols and OH&S legislation.Maintain and update QA/QC documentation for all assets that come through the shop.Order parts and material as required by the trades on the shop floor.QualificationsCompletion of high school diploma is required. Journeyperson certification in the related construction trade, such as Carpentry, Electrical, Plumbing or other construction/manufacturing field is required.Minimum 10 years of experience as a site/shop Foreman in industrial, residential and commercial construction. Modular construction experience is a great asset.Must have relevant safety tickets and supervisory training i.e., Leadership for Safety Excellence, Fall Protection (OSSA), Confined Space/Monitoring (OSSA), Elevated Work Platform, CSTS, Hoisting and Rigging and Standard First Aid with CPR.Valid class 5 driver’s license with clean 5-year driving abstract.Strong supervisory and leadership skills.Ability to develop strong working relationships with employees and management at all levels.Good project management skills to meet deadlines, minimize cost and maximize resources.Excellent organizational and time management skills.Great customer service skills, strong focus on quality of services and ability to implement systems and processes for excellence and continuous improvement.Strong focus on safety, quality of work and environmental awareness.The work schedule is 5 days on and 2 days off working in average 48 hours per week in Acheson, AB.Experience in JDE would be an asset .For the successful candidate we will provide a great work environment and an excellent total compensation package.
