The combination of stunning nature and local culture offers an arctic adventure unlike any other.For more information about Arctic Bay Adventures, visit our website.About the OpportunityAn exciting opportunity exists for a General Manager to join Arctic Bay Adventures on a full-time basis out of our office in Arctic Bay, Nunavut.Arctic Bay Adventures Ltd. is in the initial stages of operation, and the new General Manager will play a significant role in overseeing the overall operations of the business to ensure our continued success. Reporting to the Board of Directors, your specific responsibilities will involve:
  • Overseeing all administrative and general operations of the business
  • Developing a strategic action plan for the continued growth and success of the organization
  • Formulating an operational budget, including preparing monthly reports
  • Planning and implementing a proactive marketing strategy
  • Assisting in developing tourism initiatives for Arctic Bay as a destination
  • Evaluating operational staffing requirements and participating in the recruitment of new team members as needed
  • Creating and delivering staff training, development, and evaluation programs
  • Developing professional relationships with key stakeholders and clients
  • Creating a safe environment for both employees and clients
  • Ensuring all applicable laws are followed and that mandatory licenses and insurance are kept up to date
  • Maintaining and updating the business website
  • Monitoring all expenditures while following accepted financial operating practices
  • Delivering progress reports for the board, shareholders, and key partners
About YouThis is an excellent opportunity for an outdoor recreation enthusiast with strong leadership skills and business knowledge to help establish a unique tourism venture. To qualify for this role, you must have a diploma or degree in Business or Tourism Management or equivalent education, as well as ideally 5 years experience in the Tourism Industry, ideally focusing on outdoor adventure. You have some experience in Financial Management and have competence in all facets of tourism product development and marketing.You are an outstanding communicator with an entrepreneurial spirit and a natural drive to succeed. Impeccable leadership, mentoring, and evaluation skills are essential. You must also be comfortable living in an isolated community, and have an understanding of life in the high arctic.
