POSITION TITLE: Manager of Information TechnologyCOMPETITION #: 2122-21438-01SSCOMPETITION END DATE: November 22, 2022 12:00 PMLOCATION(S): District OfficeJOB TEXT:Manager of Information TechnologyDistrict OfficeSalary Scale: (HL22: $72,110- $88,106-$100,953)Temporary, Non-UnionDutiesReporting to the Director of Information Technology, the Manager of Information Technology is accountable for managing the development, delivery and support of business applications and website services for the District’s portfolio of departments and applications, and ensuring that all appropriate documentation is developed, testing and training is carried out and disaster recovery plans are in place. They are responsible for direct supervision of frontline professional staff and providing leadership and direction to the application team that provide services to multiple District departments.This position also assists the Director with network and infrastructure support through staff management, recruitment, and planning activities to ensure the professional delivery of a vast array of network services required for the academic and administrative computing facilities of the District, including but not limited to WAN-LAN-PC solutions and delivery, data center maintenance and support, WAN-LAN servers and related network appliances, desktop support services, database administration, asset tracking, virtual server deployment, cloud-based solutions, enterprise backup and recovery, etc. This position contributes to the development and ongoing improvement of NLESD business strategies, processes, and works with other departments to ensure network service continuity and with appropriate communications to all end-users. This position also provides support to ensure consistent focus on network and systems service and application delivery and availability, and provides leadership through coaching, training, empowering and facilitating IT professionals working in a team environment to ensure work priorities and timelines are met and service delivery levels are effective.Experience/Qualifications

  • The required knowledge and skills for this position would have been obtained through the successful completion of a Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or related field combined with extensive and progressive IT experience in a complex environment and experience in highly responsible leadership roles with a project management focus.;
  • Ten (10) years’ experience managing IT teams delivering information systems support, network infrastructure support and related service delivery;
  • Ten (10) years’ experience managing IT teams in an application support/development environment;
Candidates must have:
  • Knowledge of information technology and industry best practices including operating systems (Windows-based environment) and database management, WAN infrastructure-telecommunications, LAN administration and configuration, disaster recovery, wireless technologies, cloud based solutions, VMWare environments, Help Desk management, desktop support, and related security;
  • Knowledge of industry best practices for application development (e.g. incident/change management, application security, programming standards etc.);
  • Knowledge of application management/development principles and practices;
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; proven project management and organizational skills – initiating, planning, executing, and monitoring complex IT projects;
  • The ability to collaborate and work effectively with management and front line staff;
  • A proven ability to lead and manage IT personnel with a commitment to developing a department culture devoted to achieving business objectives;
  • The ability to analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve issues;
  • Excellent time management abilities;
  • Experience in a client service oriented environment with a demonstrated commitment to providing exceptional client service;
