POSITION TITLE: Payroll Clerk - Temporary - 35 hours per weekCOMPETITION #: 2122-23157-01SSCOMPETITION END DATE: November 30, 2022 12:00 PMLOCATION(S): District OfficeJOB TEXT:Payroll Clerk - TemporaryDistrict Headquarters – St. John’sSalary Scale (CG-27): $43,698 - $48,339Bargaining Unit Position (CUPE)DescriptionReporting to the Payroll Specialist, this position will be primarily responsible for supporting the Human Resource Secretariat teacher payroll function, by responding to inquiries, communicating staffing and payroll changes for Teachers and Student Assistants.Duties include, but are not limited to, inputting and verifying timesheet data and monthly attendance; calculating pay adjustments; pension reports; calculating and preparing statutory and other remittances; ensuring the accuracy of earnings, deductions, and taxable benefits; and communicating benefit transfers and terminations to service providers. The Payroll Clerk will also respond to employee inquiries while maintaining the highest standard of confidentiality in the performance of their duties. This position will perform other related duties as assigned.QualificationsCandidates must possess a detailed knowledge of the full payroll cycle; strong oral and written communication skills; analytical and organizational abilities; as well as the ability to work effectively as a team member. Proficiency with various computer programs is also required. Experience with School District Systems (SDS) would be considered a definite asset.These qualifications would normally be acquired through the completion of a two–year Diploma in Business Administration from a recognized College or University combined with recent experience in the provision of computerized payroll services. The completion or near completion of the Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) program along with a minimum of 2 years related payroll experience, preferably in a large unionized environment, is required.The Newfoundland and Labrador English School District is committed to employing a diverse workforce and encourages all qualified applicants to apply.
