JUNIOR WATER CAMP LEADERFile Number: SV24-13Position Type: Temporary Full-TimeHourly Rate: $17.07 per hour Hours of Work: 41 hours per week, Monday – Friday 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM Department: Community Services Employee Group: Administrative Group Work Location: Quinte Sports and Wellness CentreApproximate Contract Length: June 21, 2024 – August 30, 2024Closing Date: February 29, 2024, at 4:30 PM PURPOSE AND SCOPEAs a member of the Community Services Department, this staff person will provide safe supervision, organize, and implement games and activities for children, allowing the participants to express themselves in both the pool and on land through games, craft activities and water sports.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for the safety and supervision of the participants and ensure the rules and regulations set out by the Department and/or outside organizations are followed.
  • Assist with the development, implementation, supervision, and evaluation the daily activities to ensure a successful program.
  • Assist with the proper handling and care of the equipment, supplies and facilities utilized, reporting damages or losses to the Program Supervisor.
  • Assist with the daily maintenance and cleanliness of the facility where the program is held.
  • Assist with the completion and submission of the required administrative forms on a weekly basis (ie. accident forms, supply requests, special event forms, etc.).
  • Staff will be required to participate in daily activities with the campers (including swimming).
  • Act as Senior Leader if the Senior Leader is absent.
  • Evaluate the overall success of the program and submit reports and recommendations.
  • Prepare and implement bi-weekly evening performances for the campers to present to their families.
  • Attend all scheduled staff meetings when required.
  • Attending the Summer Staff Training.

  • Hold a current Standard First Aid and C.P.R. Certification.
  • Hold a current Bronze Cross Certificate.
  • A good working knowledge of crafts, games, music and children’s activities as they swimming.
  • (water polo, diving, underwater activities, synchronized swimming, canoeing).
  • National Lifeguard or Swimming Instructor Certifications are an asset.
  • High Five – Principles of Healthy Child Development certification is an asset.
