Job Description

Reporting to the Assistant Plant Manager, the Plant Operator is responsible for the day-to-day operation, ongoing maintenance and cleaning of our new state of the art dry fertilizer plant. Additional duties include general housekeeping and organization, unloading bulk fertilizer and operating various equipment.Position Responsibilities:

  • Operate, monitor and calibrate fertilizer blending equipment
  • Hands-on full knowledge and operation of both wholesale and retail fertilizer areas
  • All duties and equipment involved in unloading bulk fertilizer and railcars both safely and efficiently
  • Conduct in-load operations and preventative maintenance (i.e. greasing, belt alignment etc.)
  • Operate a skidsteer for fertilizer loading, snow removal and general cleanup
  • Ensure all equipment is functioning proper, and report and assist in resolving minor mechanical issues
  • Prepare and mix fertilizer blends per customer work orders
  • Performan general housekeeping, organization and maintenance of the plant and yard site
  • Maintain detailed records/logs related to maintenance, housekeeping and safety checks
  • Follow all site safety protocols and regulatory compliance requirements
  • Assist with general upkeep duties including painting, cleaning and organizing
  • Other duties as assigned
REQUIRED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
  • Mechanically inclined and able to troubleshoot minor mechanical issues
  • Able and willing to work at heights and in inclement climate
  • Familiarity with modern warehousing practices and methods
  • Good organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to push, pull and lift heavy objectslt; 50lbs
  • Forklift and skidsteer experience/tickets would be beneficial but can be trained
  • Experience with a variety of computer software is a preference
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
