We truly believe all corporate strengths are dependent on people.Through extensive growth, Jacknife Oilfield is searching for an additional team member. We have an exciting opportunity for a General Manager of Operations.Under direction of the Director of Operations this position is responsible for the functional management of the fluid haul and mechanical operations. Expertise in the trucking industry is required and a preference is given to experience in thermal operations.Who you areYou have experience living and working in small communities; representing the company and being an active community member. You are savvy when it comes to the trucking industry and you can relate and empathize with the people who have “boots on the ground”. Comfortable in a conventional and thermal setting, you are people focused, embody the strategic direction of the company and lead by example.With an entrepreneurial spirit you have a proven tack record of managing new business and provide a dedicated service to existing customers, based on accountability. You know your way around a computer- MS office suite does not intimidate you.Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Leads the mechanical, fluid haul operational & functional teams by delivering service offerings while developing customer relationships built on trust and accountability
  • Ensures workforce is following company policy and procedures; reviews policies and procedures and spearheads change initiatives to create efficiencies within the business
  • Overseeing and executing new projects, from identifying requirements to planning and delivery, from a position of ownership for final outcomes; engaging internal support functions (HSE, HR, Finance, Administration)
  • Ensures compliance with internal and external legal, regulatory and contractual obligations
  • Ensure proper cost control and maintenance of pertinent budgets-monitor and control expenses to maximize efficiency, productivity and protect company assets
  • Develop and recommend short-term operating budgets, and assist the Director of Operations with long-term planning where required
  • Demonstrate compassion, ability to identify with team members’ individual needs and employ empathy to solve complex business problems
  • In consultation with Human Resources maintain a positive culture by resolving grievances, discipline, employee concerns, etc. within the parameters of the company polices & procedures
  • Conduct annual reviews of direct reports, and initiate growth and development plans to ensure the company has a strategic development plan for the future workforce
  • Aligning employee goals with the strategic direction of the company. Ensuring employees can see the “big picture” and understand what role they play in the direction of the company; championing change.
  • Post-secondary education preferably focused on Business or Management
  • Previous transportation operations management experience (8 + years)
  • Knowledge of WCB, OH&S and Alberta Transportation regulations
  • Knowledge of budgeting and financial statements
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office
