Job Description

Function:The Groomer Operator’s primary function is to groom the runs, tube park, and base area after operation hours in order to prepare the site for high-quality outdoor recreation the following day.Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Build and sculpt ski runs, terrain, base area, unload ramps, and tube park lanes during snowmaking and opening preparation
  • Nightly grooming of all skiable terrain, tube park lanes, unload ramps, and chairlift areas during the operating season
  • Assist with the placement and relocation of snow guns and other snow making equipment
  • Ensure high-quality grooming is being completed and strive to continually develop those skills
  • Complete all daily pre-op and shutdown maintenance logs, sheets, and checklists for all equipment
  • Perform light duty equipment maintenance and report any maintenance needs or concerns to management in a timely manner
  • Assist with the organization of special events, and the development of creative concepts for future events
  • Perform general labour and maintenance tasks on the hill as required
  • Adhere to and be familiar with the Alpine Responsibility Code
  • Recognize, document, and report hazards (current or potential) to the operations team and assist in the removal/correction action as required
  • Participate and abide in the M.D./KRR’s Health and Safety Program
  • Perform other related duties within the scope of the position as required

  • Previous grooming, heavy equipment operation or snow cat experience will be considered an asset
  • Knowledge of ski hill operations will be considered an asset
  • Mechanical aptitude with a trades focused skill set
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Ongoing commitment to safety
  • Strong attention to detail
  • CSIA/CASI certification or equivalent will be considered.an asset
  • First Aid training - CSPS or EMR level will be considered an asset
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Mature, energetic, dependable, punctual, reliable, and self-motivated
  • Ability to work efficiently and diligently as part of a team or independently with minimal supervision
  • Committed approach to exceeding guest expectations, in a fast paced ever changing environment
  • Stamina, flexibility, and self-discipline to work long hours as required
  • Hold a valid Class 5 driver’s license
  • Obtain a full Vulnerable Sector/Criminal Record Check
  • Required to work weeknights, weekends, and holidays
Working Conditions:
  • Nightshifts
  • Length of shift may vary depending on weather conditions or project deadlines
  • Primarily work outdoors with exposure to varying weather conditions
Physical Requirements:
  • Must be physically fit and able to lift up to 50 lbs., and push and pull up to 75 lbs.
  • Required to spend long periods of time sitting or standing
