A unique assembly of sprawling lakes that lie under the stunning Aurora Borealis in northeastern Alberta; this is the area that Northern Lights Public Schools calls home.We have nearly 6,000 students enrolled in schools throughout the Division for the 2020-2021 school year, and we offer a wide range of programs to accommodate all students and parents, including home education, preschool and out-of-school care.Northern Lights Public Schools invites applications for the following position:S2021-96 Educational Assistant - Duclos SchoolThis is a Full-Time position commencing as soon as possible and for the remainder of the 2020-2021 school year. The assignment involves assisting with student educational program needs including social skills, behavior skills, and self-help. The successful applicant will possess the ability to work with a variety of students at various elementary grade levels and with varying degree of needs.Duclos School is located in the Town of Bonnyville with approximately 460 students from ECS to Grade 4.At Duclos we are developing mind and character in a safe, caring and learning environment.Preference will be given to applicants who have :Post-Secondary training and/or experience as an Educational AssistantKnowledge and experience working with expressive and receptive language development skillsKnowledge and experience with behavioral strategiesExperience working one-on-one and/or in a classroom settingKnowledge of documentation procedures and proficiency with computersFamiliarity with strategies to address different learning styles and experience with Individual Program PlansTraining and skills that would be an asset include:Literacy and numeracyPrevious experience with Early ChildhoodRelative experience in educational assistance and/or rehabilitationSIVA and/or Non-Violent Crisis Intervention trainingHow to Apply:Interested applicants are required to create and complete all sections of their portfolio through the 'Apply On-Line' link on our website, in the employment section.
