Position Title: Camp Supervisor, Membership - Sandy BeachLocation: Camp Bonaventure - Sandy Beach, 1215 50th Ave SWDuration: April 29 - August 31, 2024Mandatory Training Dates: May 1 - 10, 2024 (Camp Senior Team Training), June 13 - 27, 2024 (Camp Wide Training), July 20, 2024 (Mid Summer Training/Team Building) Salary or Salary Range: $18.50 - $20.50/HourNumber of Positions Open: 1 PositionPosting Close Date: January 14, 2024What is it like to work at Between Friends As an agency, we focus on bringing inclusive and accessible recreation programming to the people who mean the most to us, our members! We work to break down barriers and adapt to individual and communal needs. Between Friends runs age appropriate, high quality programs and services in our community for both adult and youth participants. One of our most popular programs is Camp Bonaventure, which is a fun, outdoor, pan-ability summer day camp for youth ages 4-17. Activities at Camp Bonaventure include swimming, sailing, games, crafts, yoga, music therapy, and much much more! Job Overview:As a Supervisor, Membership you will be responsible for ensuring campers needs are met and that program delivery is safe and inclusive for all. You will support Senior and Junior Counsellors with Positive Behavior Support Strategies, camper communication, personal care, and overall camper safety. This is to ensure campers have the most fulfilling camp experience possible. You will also provide direct support and supervision for the Relief Counsellors, who assist with coverage for Camp Bonaventure and other Between Friends programs. This position directly reports to the Camp Manager. - Provide support to participants and positive behaviour support strategies to staff on a daily basis in a proactive manner- Provide supervision, direction, and leadership to Relief Counsellors- Effectively manage and support campers with additional behavioural needs- Review all incident reports and ensuring proper follow-up is maintained, as outlined in the Between Friends policies and procedures manual- Serve as a liaison with all personal support aides at Camp Bonaventure- Discuss with the office Membership Team any concerns regarding campers requiring support beyond the Between Friends established 1:2 - 1:6 ratio- Develop and implement resources to support camper engagement at Camp BonaventureYou might be the person we are looking for if:- Fun - You look for ways to incorporate excitement and joy into day-to-day experiences. Previous experience working at camps, considered an asset.- Intentional - Your actions are purposeful and value driven. You are a direct and clear communicator. You have previous experience working with people with disabilities, ability to quickly and independently solve problems in high stress situations.- Caring - You welcome and celebrate people with empathy and dignity. You value working with individuals to create adaptations and modifications to ensure an inclusive experience for all. This includes providing support to participants requiring lifts and transfers, and personal care support.- Easeful - You strive to create accessible and inclusive spaces that remove barriers to access. You have experience adapting activities, programming, to meet the needs of everyone. Previous experience developing and implementing programming is required. Access to your own vehicle during working hours.- Safe - You value creating and maintaining safe spaces to promote inclusion and fun! Must be over the age of 18. Must pass a Screening Process including a Backcheck search and an Intervention Record Check completed by Alberta Human Services. Must be able to provide proof of current Standard First Aid and CPR Level C certification, prior to the start date.Overview of Working Hours:- May - June - flexible hybrid schedule, primarily focused on planning, administration duties, supporting with training (as required from Program Coordinator)- Monday - Friday, 7.5 hour work days and 0.5 hour paid lunch- July - August - work in person from Camp Bonaventure- Monday - Friday, estimated 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM- Occasional evening and/or weekends may required for training and meetings- August 24 - 31, 2024 - flexible hybrid schedule, primarily focused on end of summer wrap up administrative duties as set by the Program Coordinator- Mandatory Mid Summer Training and encouraged Team Building - July 20, 2024- Once a week staff meetings, from 4:30 - 5:30 PM- Daily Safety Briefing at 8:30 AMJob Requirements:- Must be above 18 years old- Must pass a Screening Process including a Backcheck search and an Intervention Record Check completed by Government of Alberta- Must be able to provide proof of current Standard First Aid and CPR Level C certification, prior to the start date- Proof of up to date COVID-19 Vaccinations- Experience in managing crisis situations in a team setting- Ability to provide support to participants requiring lifts and transfers, and personal care support- Previous experience working with people with disabilities is an asset- Experience in a supervisory role and/or summer camp work is an asset- Previous experience developing and implementing programming is an assetAt Between Friends, we value diversity and recognize that individuals come with a unique set of experiences that can contribute to our mission of providing quality social, recreation, and development opportunities so that people with disabilities can connect, grow, and belong.
