The RoleReporting to the Installation Services Manager, the Shop Assistant plays a pivotal role in maintaining the efficiency of shop operations and supporting installation teams. Responsibilities include ensuring the cleanliness and organization of the shop floor, conducting inventory checks, processing returns, and coordinating with suppliers.What you will be doing
  1. Shop Maintenance and Shop Inventory:
  • Ensure the cleanliness, tidiness, and organization of the shop floor to create an efficient environment.
  • Regularly conduct shop inventory checks and ensure accurate stock levels by ordering and picking up stock.
  • Track shop inventory prices from various wholesalers, ensuring parts are purchased at the most efficient prices.
  • Process returns of defective or excess parts to manufacturers, coordinating with suppliers for replacements or refunds, and maintaining accurate records of returns and warranties.
  • Perform routine maintenance service calls on some items installed by the mechanical services division.
Installer Assistance and Support:
  • Act as a liaison between the shop and installation teams, coordinating the delivery of parts and equipment to job sites as needed.
  • Assist mechanical service personnel with installations that require two-person teams, providing additional manpower and support as needed.
  • Familiarize oneself with installation procedures and product specifications to provide informed assistance to installers and address any on-site challenges or inquiries.
  • Assist with install fleet maintenance by dropping off and picking up vehicles scheduled for service or repair.
To be successful in this role you must have
  • Previous experience in a shop or similar environment preferred.
  • Strong communication skills to interact effectively with colleagues.
  • Ability to follow instructions accurately and work efficiently.
  • Mechanical aptitude to effectively assist with installations and perform routine maintenance tasks in the role.
  • Attention to detail and ability to maintain cleanliness and organization in the workspace.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and assist with various tasks as needed.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods, lift and carry moderately heavy objects, and perform tasks that may require manual dexterity.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including Saturdays, depending on the needs of the business.
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license for the province of residence
