Job Description

Midwest Surveys is an employee-owned professional land surveying firm providing geomatics deliverables designed for oilamp; gas, utilities, construction, and municipal applications through our ten offices in Saskatchewan, Alberta, and British Columbia. Applicants must have legal authorization to work in Canada.Geomatics Technician RoleOur Pipeline Integrity Group currently has an opening for a Geomatics Technician. This role is based out of Calgary and may have the option to work from home. This role reports to the Pipeline Integrity Manager. Duties will include, but are not limited to:Work closely with our team on field data processing, job progress tracking, and survey plan-checking and computationsLiaise closely with project managers to effectively provide clients with excellent serviceContribute to examination of existing processes to determine what, if any, changes can be made to increase efficiencies in the field and officeFollow Midwest Surveys health and safety protocols with commitment to ongoing learning in this areaPerform other related duties as assigned by the Project Manager, Land Surveyor, or Office ManagerQualifications Preference will be given to candidates who hold a degree / diploma in Geomatics or an equivalent combination of education and experience. The successful candidate will have:Minimum 3 years’ experience in the Survey industry, similar role preferredUnderstanding of survey methodologies, land surveying acts, and government regulations as they apply to the practice of Land SurveyingProficiency in the use of all Microsoft Office applicationsWorking knowledge of how GPS and total stations are used in the collection of survey dataProficiency in the use of survey software including MicroSurveyKey Competencies and Behavioral AttributesGood communication skills and a strong sense of professionalism when interacting with crews, drafting staff, Land Surveyors, and clientsDemonstrated organizational skills and attention to detailStrong mathematical and computer operating skillsDesire to work in a high-volume team environmentDemonstrated accuracy, neatness, and professionalism in the development of survey productsWhy Choose Midwest Midwest Surveys is a 100% employee-owned company that values its people!
