Bring your passion, your ideas, and let #39;s do this.DescriptionLocated out of our Calgary office, the individual in the Supervisor, Defect Assessments position will report to the Manager, Integrity Engineering as part of the Technical Service department within Inter Pipeline’s Transportation Business Unit (TBU). Reporting directly to the Manager, Integrity Engineering, the primary responsibility is to oversee the assessment of In-line Inspection (ILI), identify verification and mitigation projects, and actively contribute to achieving zero incidents across TBU pipeline assets.Key Activities and ResponsibilitiesSupervise Defect Assessments, developing a high performing team, and ensuring compliance with Transportation Business Units (TBU) Integrity Management Programs (IMP). Lead In-line inspection assessments (metal loss, deformation and cracks threats), applying engineering expertise to identify verification and repair projects that support pipeline operations. Evaluate in-line inspection technology, collaborating with the ILI vendors to ensure completeness and accuracy in reports, and leverage technological advancements. Oversee the issuance of dig plans, ensuring meticulous alignment with IMP requirements and successful execution. Maintain a keen focus on quality and precision in plan execution. Facilitate comprehensive Engineering Assessments to support changes in pipeline status, operating conditions, or verify the integrity of pipeline assets. Identify and implement corrective actions as necessary. Support incident investigations, participate in root cause failure analyses and incorporate lessons learned into the Pipeline Integrity Management Program.· Support risk assessments, ensuring accurate identification and addressing of risk factors. Develop a risk mitigation plan for any identified unacceptable risks. Drive the development of guidelines, standards, and procedures to support Defect Assessment and associated standards, aiming to enhance accuracy and efficiencies in work processes. Manage and update monthly KPIs and scorecards, ensuring the progression and achievement of monthly targets. Evaluate team performance, determining training needs to meet performance objectives and fostering continuous improvement. Collaborate with other members of the Integrity Engineering team to better integrate learning’s from ILI into prevention programs. Develop and communicate long-term strategies to all relevant stakeholders to manage the integrity of pipeline segments. Assist in developing the annual budget, 5-year budget, and manage program costs for integrity activities, ensuring accurate financial reporting and strategic decision-making.Education, Skills and ExperienceAn engineering degree (preferably Metallurgical, Chemical or Mechanical) from an accredited post-secondary institution and registration as a professional engineer (APEGA preferred). A minimum of 10 years of related integrity management experience in the pipeline oil and gas business. Strong technical knowledge and experience in pipeline threat assessment and management, risk assessment, monitoring and mitigation strategies Proven experience leading pipeline integrity or technical team Provide direction and supervision to the team on IPL #39;s Professional Practice Management Plan (PPMP) Exceptional communication skills, both internally and externally, with a focus on building strong stakeholder relationships. Attention to detail, the ability for problem-solving and critical thinking skills. Self-motivated with the ability to work independently to deliver strong results. Possess a strong ability to adapt to multiple demands, shifting priorities and changing business conditions.
