In doing so, the Custodian plays a significant role in maintaining the operations and functionality of the school and supporting a learning environment that is conducive to student success.The purpose of this position is to maintain a safe, secure, comfortable and sanitary school. By doing this, the Custodian helps to create a positive learning environment for students and pleasant working environment for school staff.The knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this job are usually obtained through completion of Grade 6. Other skills required for this position include proper cleaning techniques, use of specific cleansers for various surfaces and be skilled in the use of cleaning equipment such as industrial vacuum cleaners and buffers.This is a Highly Sensitive Position and a satisfactory Criminal Record Check, along with a clear Vulnerable Sector Check is required.The Official Languages of Nunavut are Inuktut, English and French. Applicants may submit their resume in any of the official languages of Nunavut. Fluency in more than one of Nunavut’s official languages would be considered an asset. Knowledge of Inuit communities, culture, land, Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit, Inuktut and experience working in a northern cross-cultural environment are also considered assets.Acceptable combinations of education and experience may be considered for this position.
