Job Description

Job RequirementsSkills:

  • Experience working with elementary school aged students.
  • Ability to work effectively with co-workers, students and society members with diplomacy and professionalism.
  • Knowledge of current child development theories and understanding of the theories behind various learning styles.
  • Ability to support and respond to different learning styles. Specialized training is an asset.
  • Time management skills with ability to be flexible and multitask.
  • Ability to understand and follow a lesson plan as set out by the classroom teacher.
  • Willingness to learn new skills.
  • Ability to lead a group of elementary-aged students.
  • Accepts direction from teaching staff and colleagues when appropriate.
Specialized Knowledge/Education:
  • Post secondary training in educational related subject areas, example special educational assistant diploma, early childhood educator diploma, behaviour intervention certificate.
  • Current first aid certificate.
  • Current criminal record check
Compensation:
  • Starting wage 21.17/Hr
  • Benefits package including: Extended medical, Vision, Dental, Life Insurance, Group RRSP(pending minimum FTE requirements)
