JOB POSTING – CROSS SITEPOSITIONPOSITION POSTING # L22-89POSITION: Coordinator, Occupational Health, Infection Control, Diversity,Equity and InclusionUNIT: Human Resources/Clinical ServicesSTATUS: Permanent Full-TimeSTART DATE: ImmediatelySALARY RANGE: $38.34 - $47.90 per hourPOSITION SUMMARY:The Coordinator of Occupational Health, Infection Control, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) providesleadership in the development, management and coordination of employee health, infection prevention and controlprogram as well as the DEI program. The Coordinator adjudicates illness claims and supports employees and theirmanagers to develop early and safe return to work plans. Additionally, the Coordinator supports the investigation ofincidents related to workplace violence, acts as a liaison between employees and management for issues related toinjuries or illnesses and supports hazard identification and works with managers to implement appropriate controls.Further, the Coordinator provides leadership and chairs the IPAC Committee; develops, implements and evaluatesthe IPAC program, specifically focusing on surveillance, reporting, and clinical consultations as necessary. TheCoordinator participates in and provides leadership for IPAC / Occupational Health-related projects and serves as anessential resource of the construction/renovation multi-disciplinary team. As a leader within the two organizations,this position is accountable for contributing to the delivery of the organizations’ strategic directions includingconsistently engaging our staff and actively participating in regional work as required.The Coordinator will play an integral role in building a more diverse, inclusive, and equitable culture at LWHA andwill be responsible for supporting our teams and leaders to develop and implement programs and initiatives that willencourage diversity, promote equity, and support psychological safety for all employees and patients.QUALIFICATIONS: Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing Current Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario Occupational Health Nursing Diploma or willing to start within 3 months of hire Certification in Occupational Health Nursing COHN(C) preferred Current certification in Infection Control (CIC) Health Leadership Experience Demonstrated leadership in change management, program management and program development Experience with supporting adult education Demonstrates advanced knowledge in diversity, inclusion and equity in Ontario’s healthcare system Demonstrates a thorough understanding of equity, diversity, inclusion, anti-racism principles,discrimination and harassment prevention frameworks Minimum three to five years’ demonstrated experience researching, developing and/or facilitatingeducational workshops & programs, public education materials and community initiatives related todiversity, equity, inclusion Knowledge and awareness of current equity, diversity, inclusion and anti-racism issues, promising practicesand current methodologies, ability to keep knowledge and skills current and up to date in these key areas 3-5 years recent and related experience; acute care preferredEFFORT: Minimal Physical Effort High degree of mental effort and analysisPOSITION-SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:Occupational Health and Safety: Provides one-point contact to all LWHA staff in the identification of health and wellness issues and ensuressystems and practices are in place to safeguard the privacy and confidentiality of all Employee Health files Ensures employees meet the organization’s requirements for new hires. Oversee and support structure to ensurethat students, contractors, volunteers, etc. meet the occupational health requirements of the organization. Provides care for occupational and non-occupational illnesses and injuries to LWHA employees includingsickness and disability claims management Facilitates case management, guides Managers to effectively manage WSIB, STD, LTD, and non-occupational illnesses, facilitating early, safe and gradual return to work and modified work program/workaccommodation for employees Provides confidential counseling in a trusting safe and respectful environment Monitors the effectiveness of Disability Management Programs, makes recommendations and takes actionto improve practices Develops educational and promotional materials and ensures effective communication to improveawareness, understanding and participation in Health and Wellness initiatives and ensures ongoingmonitoring and evaluation of Health and Wellness initiatives Actively participates in the Health and Safety Committee, providing reports where necessary Supports managers in the investigation of workplace violence reports. Develops, coordinates, implementsemployee wellness initiatives Coordinates and promotes employee access to the employee assistance program Manages and facilitates the attendance support program and provides support to staff and managers as required Where required supports, coordinates and implements staff and patient vaccine programsInfection Prevention and Control Coordination: Develops, implements, and manages all aspects of the IPAC program Monitors healthcare associated infections through regular surveillance activities; reports publicly reportedinfection rates Designs, implements and evaluates LWHA hand hygiene program Designs, implements and evaluates education on IPAC related topics; provides clinical consultations andrecommendations on the management of infections. Supports and leads an outbreak management team as necessary Provides leadership and chairs the LWHA IPAC committee Disseminates IPAC information in appropriate formats Participates in professional IPAC organizations Provides leadership for IPAC / Occupational Health-related projects and serves as an essential resource ofthe construction/renovation multi-disciplinary team.
