Job Description

Schedule: 4 days on and 3 days off with potential for hybrid scheduleRate of Pay: CompetitivePOSITION OVERVIEW:Reporting to the General Manager, the Manager, Finance, Supply Chain and IT will proactively manage the commercial and administrative functions at the mine site including Finance, Accounting, A/P, Payroll, Supply Chain and Information Technology. They will ensure processes, procedures and systems contribute to the successful execution of the mines business strategy to manage the allocation of resources, finances and the stewardship of company assets.As a member of the Magino Leadership team, this individual will participate in the overall management of the operations to ensure that production and profitability targets are achieved.As this is a start-up operation, the successful candidate must have a strong focus on employee development.MAGINO MINE:The Magino Project is a brown-fields site located in northern Ontario, Canada that contains an historical underground gold mine, and tailings management facility ("TMF"). The Corporation has conducted a Feasibility Study during 2017 that examined mining the deposit using conventional open pit mining methods and extraction of gold from the ore using a 10,000 tonnes per day carbon-in-pulp ("CIP") mineral processing facility. When developed, Magino will produce around 150,000 ounces of gold during the first five years of production. The project has over a 15-year mine production life (including one year of pre-production).RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage the accounting, payroll, accounts payable, Information Technology & supply chain teams. Identify and analyze business requirements and the implications for each of these areas.
  • Develop the overall strategy for the administrative function including implementation approaches and cost-benefit analysis for proposed approaches.
  • Manage the annual budgeting process and ongoing forecasting
  • Act as a member of the senior management team to develop and achieve the overall administrative strategy and goals of the mine.
  • Work and collaborate with corporate finance on reporting and compliance.
  • Ensure financial systems are implemented to provide timely, accurate and relevant information for end users.
  • Develop and monitor financial plans, controls, and accounting practices and ensure adherence to company policies, and financial regulations.
  • Ensure all Month End Close and Financial Reporting deadlines are met efficiently and do not compromise the functioning of the mine.
  • Oversee the payroll and compliance/taxation functions to ensure that all statutory requirements are met on a timely basis.
  • Supervise site-based financial accounting, management accounting, capital projects and accounts payable functions.
  • Review and analyse financial reports and documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance, and report variances.
  • Review and approve related project budgets as appropriate.
  • Develop expense management policies that are consistent with company practices and enforce site compliance.
  • Oversee all facets of financial activity including accounts receivable, billing, banking relations and cash flow analysis and monitoring.
  • Participate in the yearly audit and ensure deadlines are met and reporting is accurate and compliant with industry and company regulations.
  • Manage the IT function including network management, purchasing of hardware and software, and knowledge management. Ensure IT meets the needs of the site and end users and the operational network is stable.
  • Monitor travel related expenditures and ensure vendors provide cost effective travel options, best of breed service and that employees are aware of related policies and practices.
  • Build and develop an appropriate team through recruitment and development. Manage performance, reviews and provide feedback and coaching to direct reports.
  • Provide clear work objectives and expectations of the performance levels required to achieve business plans and production targets.
  • Ensure the required manpower and equipment is in place to achieve planned production, while meeting planned costs.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Completion of a Degree in Accounting or related discipline (Required).
  • CPA Designation (Required).
  • G Class Driver’s License (Required).
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role, preferably in the mining/heavy industry.
  • 10+ years’ accounting experience.
  • Extensive experience with ERP systems.
  • Experience leading several teams in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Ability to engage and influence Senior leaders and other key stakeholders
  • Self-motivated team player with a positive attitude and ability to give direction
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, organizational and conflict resolution skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with ability to continually prioritize workload and respond to top priorities with a sense of urgency.
  • Detail-oriented with both the ambition and willingness to dive into the details necessary to accomplish responsibilities and solve problems.
  • Effective leadership and the ability to build a strong team culture
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
  • The role is located at the Magino Mine, which is approximately 88 kilometers northeast of Wawa, Ontario, Canada.
  • The ideal candidate for the role will work a rotation of 4 days on, 3 days off, with potential for a hybrid schedule.
  • Although you will be assigned a work schedule, this is not a guaranteed schedule of hours and your work hours may vary with the needs of the company.
  • As a Management position you will be required to manage your time on site effectively in line with the requirements of the job.
