Job Description

Mill Training SupervisorPOSITION OVERVIEW:Reporting to the Mill Operations Superintendent, the Mill Training Supervisor is responsible for all aspects of mill operations training including planning, delivery, follow-up, and record-keeping. This role is also responsible for developing the process plant emergency response plan along with related training requirements. Reagent handling and radiation safety are key components to the response plan. The incumbent will coordinate training efforts with the Human Resources Department.As this is a start-up position, the successful candidate must have hands-on experience in best practice safety, milling, maintenance and emergency response practices and methodologies to manage the activities involved in the assessment, design, delivery, implementation and evaluation of training and development programs for Magino Mine.MAGINO MINE:The Magino Project is a brown-fields site located in northern Ontario, Canada that contains an historical underground gold mine, and tailings management facility ("TMF"). The Corporation has conducted a Feasibility Study during 2017 that examined mining the deposit using conventional open pit mining methods and extraction of gold from the ore using a 10,000 tonnes per day carbon-in-pulp ("CIP") mineral processing facility. When developed, Magino will produce around 150,000 ounces of gold during the first five years of production. The project has over a 15-year mine production life (including one year of pre-production).RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plan and develop training criteria, manuals and systems for Mill Fixed and Mobile Equipment and conduct the training sessions, ensuring all persons working on site are duly authorized, appointed, and skilled.
  • Identify training needs or gaps and develop or revise assessment resources towards improving the overall operational skill level of the Mill Operations and Maintenance team.
  • Be responsible for all related documentation, report writing, record-keeping and signing authority.
  • Develop the Mill Emergency Response Plan (ERP) with protocols and procedures for the Magino site.
  • Audit the Emergency Preparedness Plan on an annual basis and participate in desktop and training exercises.
  • Develop and maintain training matrix and provide input into budgeting for future training requirements and tools.
  • Create an environment that fosters a safe working environment.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement initiatives of the department.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 8-10 years’ experience in a gold mill environment and direct experience in training Operators.
  • Able to assess the following machinery/equipment: Crusher, Grinding Mills, classification/thickening, cyanide leaching, CIP, ARD, Cyanide Destruction & ancillary equipment i.e. forklifts, skid steers, Front End Loaders.
  • Proven competency in Training and Assessment methods and techniques to Canadian Mining standards
  • Train the Trainer, Radiation Safety Officer and Emergency Response experience is desirable.
  • Good computing skills using MS Office products.
  • A demonstrated personal commitment to safety is required. This is seen through work habits, one on one discussions, and throughout the workplace behaviours.
  • Superb interpersonal skills with a supportive, positive approach to training.
  • Work proficiently in a team environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with all levels of the operation.
  • Highly organized, with strong time management skills and ability to prioritize workload.
  • Demonstrated problem solving and decision-making.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
  • The role is located at the Magino Mine, which is approximately 88 kilometers northeast of Wawa, Ontario, Canada.
  • The ideal candidate for the role will work a rotation of 4 days on and 3 days off (10-hour days).
  • Although you will be assigned a work schedule, this is not a guaranteed schedule of hours and your work hours may vary with the needs of the company.
