We recognize the individual needs of our staff while supporting and assisting them to reach their full potential.We are seeking a Contract HSE Coordinator based out of our Fort Mackay, AB location.Responsibilities:Provide support in the implementation of the Corporate Safety ProgramAssist management and project teams with the implementation of site-specific safety programsAssist in the development and management of (JHA) Job Hazard Analysis and (SWP) Safe Work PracticesAssist in the maintenance of Provincial COR certificationsEnsure Company’s Health and Safety is in compliance with, or exceeds applicable legislationImplement new and/or modified policies, procedures and initiatives to enhance the programConduct routine site visits; inspect workplace facilities to ensure consistency with procedures and legislative requirements; complete site auditsAssist with the investigation of Health and Safety related issues; implement preventative measures and follow-up to ensure complianceAssist in the design and implementation of safety training programs, and employee orientations, both on and off project sitesMaintain all required documentation and reports, manage Risk Assessments and processesAddress and mitigate worker near misses, incidents, accidents and environmental incidents to analyze, identify and communicate trends and frequency detailsAct as a member of, and resource for, the company’s JHSCAct as full time, on-site Safety Representative whenever and wherever requiredConduct safety meetings and communicate safety initiatives, concerns and corrective actions to Management and WorkersQualifications:Education and ExperiencePost-secondary certification (degree, diploma, certificate) in Occupational Health & Safety or related discipline (completed or in progress)Minimum 1 - 3 years related Health & Safety experience, preferably in a construction related industryCSRP or Gold Seal Certification is an assetValid Ontario non-probationary drivers’ licence and own vehicleKnowledge, Skills and Ability RequirementsKnowledge of the Occupational Health & Safety legislation, principles and practicesWorking knowledge of principles and methods for training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groupsProficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)Excellent communication and presentation skills (oral/written)Strong interpersonal and customer service skillsAnalytical, detail-oriented, flexible, adaptable, team playerStrong time management and organizational skillsAble to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously under tight timelinesGood judgment and decision-making skillsPhysical DemandsWalking, standing, bending, climbingWork performed indoors/outdoors in all weather conditionsPlease note the expected duration for this position is 2-4 months
