Job Description

Junior BookkeeperThe Opportunity: The Fort McKay Métis Nation is seeking an experienced Junior Bookkeeper to join our dynamic team.The Role: Reporting to the Manager of Finance, the Junior Bookkeeper is liable for the daily bookkeeping processes and works collaboratively with the finance team, as well as providing interdepartmental support.Accountabilities:

  • Full cycle bookkeeping using QuickBooks Online and other technology-based applications.
  • Prepare month-end reconciliation reports and others as required
  • Preparing books for year-end processing
  • Prepare payroll as per FMMN payroll schedule
  • Validate and ensure accuracy and integrity of payroll data
  • Prepare and distribute payroll reports to operations and answer inquiries
  • Assist in the preparation and payment of government remittances
  • Process T4’s and ROEs as legislated by Service Canada
  • Month-end processes, including accruals and bank reconciliations
  • Year-end processes
  • Reconciling for taxable benefits
  • Cross training with other accounting positions and accounting support to AP and AR
  • All other duties as necessary
Requirements and Competencies
  • A minimum of 1 year experience in an accounting role
  • Post-secondary education in relevant field
  • National Institute Payroll Membership preferred
  • Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) Designation considered an asset
  • Experience with payroll systems such as QuickBooks, SAP, Sage, or equivalent
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Data entry skills, with a high degree of accuracy
  • Able to work independently, with minimal supervision
  • Versatility, flexibility, and adaptability with changing priorities
Schedule
  • Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week.
