TEACHING VACANCY: POSTING NO. 91 – OCTOBER 11, 2022SCHOOL: David Hoy Elementary School, Fort St. James, BCSTART DATE: October 18, 2022ASSIGNMENT: 1.0 (FTE) CONTINUING CARRIER LANGUAGE AND CULTURE TEACHERSPECIFIC ASSIGNMENT TO BE DETERMINED BY THE SCHOOL PRINCIPALNote: This position is included in a Human Rights Hiring Exemption and is limited to applicants of Aboriginal Ancestry. Proof of ancestry will be required as per the Human Rights Exemption document.Qualificationspossesses or is eligible for a BC Teaching Certificatespecific training and experience teaching Carrier Language and Culture is a necessitycertified Indigenous Language Teacher, fluent in Carrier language and aware of the local differences in dialectsdemonstrates a detailed knowledge and understanding of Carrier history, culture, traditions and communitiesdemonstrated ability to develop and maintain a positive classroom learning environment that engages students in active learning experiencesexperience in differentiating instruction to create success in learning for each studentexperience in integrating appropriate technologies into instructional practices in order to improve learning outcomes for studentsability to work as a member of a district team to create curricular competencies and content in Carrier languageProfessional dispositions are defined here as the values, commitments and professional ethics that influence an educator’s approach to their work.
