Job Description

  • Safely operate DX800 rotary blast hole drill to meet daily plan and production target
  • Ensure that blast holes are drilled accurately according to the blast design
  • Assist blast crew when required and carry out any other tasks as directed by the supervisor
  • Report all deficiencies to supervisor
  • Demonstrate an ability to understand and execute oral and written instructions
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Able to work outdoors in all‐weather conditions.
  • Physically fit to perform all aspects of job
  • Operate drills within OEM specifications and recommendations
  • Operate two‐way radios and report any mechanical issues
  • Conduct pre & post operational inspections on equipment, clean, lubricate and refill equipment
  • Follow all safety protocols with a desire to work cooperatively as part of a productive team
  • Handling explosives under the supervision of the lead blaster
  • Guide explosives equipment to drill hole locations
  • Assist with stocking explosives, monitor inventories and safe storage or disposal of powder upon completion
Qualifications:2+ years’ experience operating drills in an Arctic drill/blast rock greenfield construction environment, i.e.: quarries, roads, plant sites, tank & camp pads, containment ponds, frozen core dams & open pitsExperience operating DX800 preferable and closed cab drill. Minimum of 2+ years’ experience in mining/blasting environmentAble to work under minimum supervisionWork Environment:Remote Construction Site Hope Bay, Nunavut - travel to/from site is requiredSchedule/Shift: 3 weeks on / 3 weeks off (12‐hour shifts)Working outdoors in all weather conditions, including extreme coldUneven ground, working around heavy equipment, and working with explosivesJob Types: Full-time, Fixed term contractSalary: $38.00-$45.00 per hourSchedule:
