We offer a collaborative team environment and an excellent place to take charge of your career.Position PurposeResponsible for providing general maintenance to Town roads and Town owned road-side properties. In this position you will:Provides general duties for road maintenance activities including pot-hole filling, earth excavating, delivering materials on job sites, loading vehicles, washing and maintaining equipment, and other similar duties.Provides winter maintenance activities for municipal infrastructure including: roads, sidewalks, trails, and the exterior walkways and parking lots of municipal facilities using single/tandem axle combination units, sidewalk snow plows (tractor and articulated wheel-loaders) and snow blowers, shovels, and four-wheel drive pick-up trucks equipped with plows and sanders.Maintains the Town work yards (including shop and garage) through regular cleaning, painting and/or minor repairs including janitorial duties.Transports equipment/supplies from one location, to another as required.Responsible for keeping accurate log documentation for hours of service in accordance with the Highway Traffic Act.Maintain written logs of inspections and work activities, including the use of digital or electronic recording keeping systems.Performs road patrols twice daily in winter months as requiredProvides detailed accounts and reports for accidents, incidents, etc. to aid in Insurance Claim investigations.Operates equipment to complete all necessary duties, tractor, articulated wheel-loaders, steam machine, light-duty vehicles, dump trucks and other equipment as assigned.Minimum QualificationsSuccessful completion of a high school diploma or equivalentAdditional training on the use of heavy equipment. OGRA training is an assetMinimum one (1) year related experienceExperience in the use of winter operations and maintenance equipment (e.g. combination unit plow/spreader units, tractors, loaders, sidewalk snow clearing machines and four-wheel drive plow trucks, skid steer tractors etc.)Experience working with work-order systems, electronic record keeping, and electronic communication through cellphones and/or laptops (email and messaging)Demonstrated ability to work professionally and courteously with the publicWorking understanding of driver log requirements as outlined in the Highway Traffic ActRequired to work shifts including early mornings, evenings, nights and weekendsMust be able to lift up to 50 lbs; and exert physical effort for long periods of timeMust be able to stand and perform repetitive motions (example: shoveling, raking etc.)Possess a Class DZ or AZ driver’s licence with no more than 7 demerit points.Available Shifts40 hours per week, 3:00am to 11:30am, Monday to Friday27 hours per week, 7:00am-4:30pm, Friday, Saturday, Sunday27 hours per week, 7:00am-4:30pm, Saturday, Sunday, MondayWe thank all candidates for their interest, however only those being considered will be contacted.
