Job Description

Do you want to help improve testing services for sexually transmitted infection (STI) in your community Come volunteer with the Community STI Testing Survey this summer!Why are we doing the Community STI Testing SurveyThe Community STI Testing Survey is being conducted by the BC Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC) in partnership with local health authorities. We want to understand people’s experience with STI testing services including GetCheckedOnline, a free online STI testing service operated by the BCCDC. Findings will inform the ongoing implementation of GetCheckedOnline as well as provide useful, local data related to STI testing for community organizations and service providers.What is the volunteer role look likeVolunteers will support survey recruitment activities at events and venues in Kimberley and/or Cranbrook, BC that are taking place between late June and early September 2022. Duties of the volunteer may involve helping set up at a recruitment event, approaching people at the event about the survey, determining eligibility for participation, obtaining informed consent, collecting completed surveys, and/or providing information about GetCheckedOnline.What skills/experience would be needed for volunteers

  • Comfort with / ability to engage with strangers
When will you be volunteeringVolunteering schedules will be determined according to the survey recruitment need and upon mutual agreement.What will you get out of volunteering for the Community STI Testing SurveyYour engagement will help improve health services in your community. You will also receive a fabulous staff T-shirt. At the end of our study period (i.e., September 2022), we will provide a thank-you letter with recognition of your volunteer time and a gift card for all of our volunteers.Job Type: CasualCOVID-19 considerations:Survey staff including volunteers will be required to wear a medical mask during a recruitment event. All staff are asked to complete a daily health check using the BC COVID-19 Self-Assessment Tool and follow the recommendations from the tool.Ability to commute/relocate:
  • Kimberley, BC: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
