Job Description

ABOUT THE COMPANYSabina Gold & Silver Corp. is a well-financed Canadian precious metals company on track to become a mid-tier gold producer. The Company has a portfolio of properties in Canada at different stages of development. Our flagship project, the Back River Gold Project, is located in the western Kitikmeot Region of Nunavut. Through our Nunavut assets, Sabina is evolving from a successful exploration company to a developer. Sabina is listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange (“SBB”).ABOUT THE POSITIONWorking in a remote camp setting on a rotational (3x3) basis, the Generator Technician (HET) is responsible for the day-to-day maintenance of all components of diesel generators. The Generator Technician (HET) diagnoses areas of improvement, completes repairs, tests, inspects, and services generators 208V 3 phase and up to ensure the safe and efficient operations for site personnel. Reporting to the Superintendent, Maintenance or designate, the Generator Technician (HET) maintains service records of all work completed on generators and assists the maintenance team with the scheduled and unscheduled maintenance of other equipment as required.PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIESReporting to the Superintendent, Maintenance or Designate, duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Maintain, diagnose areas of improvement, and inspect components and generator sets for usage (208V 3 phase and up);
  • Test, measure, and verify electrical component operations, including energized components and electrical fields. Conduct building transfer tests to confirm correct operation of transfer switches, breakers and generators;
  • Service and repair generators and other diesel light/heavy equipment as required;
  • Recondition and remanufacture components as required for controllers and engines repairs;
  • Perform monthly load testing;
  • Update and maintain service records of work completed;
  • Communicate with generator manufacturers as required to complete servicing and repairs as per the required standards and regulations;
  • Participate in daily safety toolbox talks to promote compliance to Sabina’s health and safety policies and procedures; and
  • Assist in other maintenance work as directed by the Supervisor.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONSThe ideal candidate will have experience working in a remote camp setting with limited access to resources. Additionally, they will have:
  • Three (3) years of post-qualification experience, preferably in an isolated remote setting with limited access to parts and resources;
  • Interprovincial Red Seal Heavy Duty Equipment Technician or Nunavut Heavy Equipment Technician CoQ;
  • Power Engineer Certificate and Generator Technician Certification required. A combination of a Red Seal HET Certificate and prior experience working on diesel generators 208V 3 phase and up will be considered in lieu of certificate; and
  • A solid understanding of generator’s controls and operating systems, and prior experience working with high voltage equipment.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITSFor informational purposes, the blended hourly rate range is $75.71 for 2184 scheduled hours in a work year.
