Job Description

ABOUT THE COMPANYSabina Gold & Silver Corp. is a well-financed Canadian precious metals company on track to become a mid-tier gold producer. The Company has a portfolio of properties in Canada at different stages of development. Our flagship project, the Back River Gold Project, is located in the western Kitikmeot Region of Nunavut. Through our Nunavut assets, Sabina is evolving from a successful exploration company to a developer. Sabina is listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange (“SBB”).ABOUT THE POSITIONWorking on a rotational basis (3x3) in a remote camp setting, the Superintendent, Underground Development (UGD) is responsible for the planning, coordination, and supervision of the workforce engaged with UG developmental tasks and is accountable to meet short and long term production requirements. The Superintendent, UGD will present production work plans during project meetings to ensure all project crews and leaders are in alignment and maintain knowledge of both strategic and operational plans to coordinate appropriate project outcomes while promoting compliance with Sabina’s safety policies and procedures.PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIESReporting to the General Superintendent, Mining, duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Support and promote strict adherence to safety and process controls regarding operating underground equipment, worksitesafety, and documentation requirements. Coordinate with internal and external departments to ensure all mandatedinspections are completed within requested timeframes;
  • Promoting a safety-first culture while providing effective leadership and coaching to meet production goals;
  • Supervise UG development and production crews/activities and liaise between the engineering, procurement,maintenance, and construction workforce to ensure project deliverables are met. Provide technical and operational inputto plan work methods, materials, equipment needs, and work schedules for underground and material-handling relatedactivities including development, production, construction, and mineral processing;
  • Work with various stakeholders including tradespersons, engineers, supply chain, management, and subject matter expertsto review project and construction specifications to achieve best practice outcomes;
  • Support short and long-range planners to prepare mining schedules aiming to achieve and exceed industry standardproduction targets;
  • Coordinate with internal Supply Chain and Maintenance personnel to ensure that the project is equipped with appropriateequipment and material quantities to complete production within assigned budget and schedule;
  • Review daily work schedules with direct reports and update monthly schedule from project feedback. Document daily activities and meeting notes using Corporation approved documentation methods; and
  • Lead and support various project initiation, preparation, and execution activities.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONSThe ideal candidate will have experience working in a remote camp setting with limited access to resources. Additionally, they will have:
  • Ten (10) years of UG mining experience, combined with three (3) years of supervisory experience, preferably at a remotemining site with limited access to resources. Experience in underground hard-rock drill and blast development is required;
  • Demonstrated experience in establishing safe work practices and building standard mining processes and systems combined with extensive experience in the operation and use of underground development mining equipment and techniques;
  • Experience with Alimak raise mining is advantageous but not required. Raisebore experience is considered an asset;
  • Basic computer skills required including the use of Microsoft Word and Excel;
  • Supervisor Certificate Level 2 and UG Shift Boss Certificate required; and
  • Blasters ticket required.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITSThe starting salary for this role is $185,000.00 annually for 2184 scheduled hours in a work year.
