Job Description

ABOUT THE COMPANYSabina Gold & Silver Corp. is a well-financed Canadian precious metals company on track to become a mid-tier gold producer. Through our Nunavut assets, Sabina is evolving from a successful exploration company to a developer. Sabina is listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange (“SBB”).ABOUT THE POSITIONThe Open Pit Labourer is responsible for a wide range of functions to support site operations in an organized and safe manner, with the primary role being to ensure the project site areas are maintained, up to established standards, and free of hazards. Reporting to the Supervisor, Open Pit and Earthworks the Labourer, Open Pit will aid in maintaining cleanliness of site areas, garbage and snow removal, tool use to assist in construction and repair activities, digging, loading/unloading, carrying, and managing equipment and small machinery, assisting tradespeople with day-to-day tasks, and following direction from the Supervisor or Designate. We are seeking 4 individuals to start on May 4 or 25, 2023 working in a remote camp setting on a rotational (3x3) basis.PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIESReporting to the Supervisor, Open Pit & Earthworks or Designate, duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Assist Operators and Open Pit Operations in performing daily functions to support construction activities, such as assisting with dewatering, labour activities related to crushing, and open pit work;
  • Provide support to construction crews by carrying and moving cables and hoses, digging, assisting in the clean-up and preparation of tasks, and ensuring areas are hazard free via garbage or snow removal;
  • Operate hand tools and small machinery in a safe and efficient manner according to Sabina’s policies and procedures;
  • Load and unload dewatering pumps and hoses and other construction materials;
  • Promote compliance to Sabina’s site safety procedures and policies; and
  • Work with Survey to assist with layout for open pit/ blasting and construction activities.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONSThe ideal candidate will have experience working in remote settings with limited access to resources. Additionally, they will have:
  • Ability to move, lift, and carry up to 50lbs and ability to walk up to (but not limited to) 5km daily in adverse weather conditions;
  • One (1) year of general labourer experience in a remote camp environment;
  • Prior work at a mine or heavy civil construction site preferred;
  • Completion of High School Diploma or GED;
  • Ability to read, comprehend, write, and converse to ensure safe working conditions on site; and
  • Valid Drivers license (or the ability to obtain).
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITSFor informational purposes, the estimated annual earnings for 2184 scheduled hours in a work year is $74,412.00. Competitive benefits and travel compensation will be discussed with the successful candidate.Due to high occupancy during this phase of construction the successful candidate(s) may be assigned shared accommodations.
