Job Description

ABOUT THE COMPANYSabina Gold & Silver Corp. is a well-financed Canadian precious metals company on track to become a mid-tier gold producer. The Company has a portfolio of properties in Canada at different stages of development. Our flagship project, the Back River Gold Project, is located in the western Kitikmeot Region of Nunavut. Through our Nunavut assets, Sabina is evolving from a successful exploration company to a developer. Sabina is listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange (“SBB”).ABOUT THE POSITIONReporting to the Construction Director, the Maintenance Manager is based at the Back River site working on a rotational basis (3x3) and is responsible for the overall management of people, safety, stakeholder relationships, and general maintenance associated with the Back River Project. The Maintenance Manager will direct the multidisciplinary maintenance team to ensure that department performance is executed in a safe and efficient manner. This individual will provide front-line direction to the maintenance crew to meet scheduled and unscheduled site needs while adhering to project budgets and federal/provincial guidelines.PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIESReporting to the Director, Construction, duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Develop and adhere to project budgets in regard to site maintenance with a high commitment to seeking best practices in ensuring productivity improvement;
  • Supervise, coordinate, and schedule the activities of the maintenance team, including (but not limited to) Maintenance Leads, Automotive Service Technicians, Heavy Equipment Technicians, and Welders to ensure the safe and efficient scheduled and unscheduled repair of site equipment;
  • Ensures accountability for maintaining equipment records, analyzing equipment performance, and reporting on the effectiveness of the maintenance service that meets regulatory requirements;
  • Prioritize work order requests with the Superintendent, Maintenance to organize jobs and execute according to the level of urgency and weekly schedule. Interface regularly with site teams to schedule maintenance activities;
  • Review work orders and KPI’s to decide on corrective measures to be taken and communicate effectively to the project teams and managers. Requisition materials and supplies as necessary;
  • Liaise with maintenance and project teams to establish short, medium, long-term maintenance plans at the senior management level. Develop and maintain strong relationships with external and internal stakeholders;
  • Motivate others and initiate change to promote results in terms of safety, production, and cost management;
  • Ensure that safety incidents are thoroughly investigated to promote proper procedures and protocols. Make recommendations and corrective action where necessary to address non-compliance; and
  • Identify, encourage, and manage training requirements/opportunities for the crew members and direct reports. Work closely
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONSThe successful candidate will have prior experience working in a remote camp setting with limited access to resources. Additionally, they will have:
  • Ten (10) years’ experience in the heavy industry in mobile maintenance, mine maintenance, planning, and execution (preferably in the mining industry) with five (5) years in supervisory capacity required;
  • Interprovincial Red Seal trade qualification required;
  • Experience with mobile fleets consisting of (but not limited to) CAT and Sandvik equipment (shovels, haul trucks, drills, dozers, loaders, light and heavy vehicles, and other support equipment); and
  • Prior experience working with indigenous groups in a professional capacity and working in a remote camp setting with limited access to resources.
