Job Description

ABOUT THE COMPANYSabina Gold & Silver Corp. is a well-financed Canadian precious metals company on track to become a mid-tier gold producer. The Company has a portfolio of properties in Canada at different stages of development. Our flagship project, the Back River Gold Project, is located in the western Kitikmeot Region of Nunavut. Through our Nunavut assets, Sabina is evolving from a successful exploration company to a developer. Sabina is listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange (“SBB”).ABOUT THE POSITIONThe Supervisor Open Pit & Earthworks works in a remote camp setting on a rotational (3x3) basis and is responsible for traditional truck and shovel Open Pit production and construction of earthworks infrastructure designs using various heavy equipment in a safe and efficient matter. Reporting to the Superintendent, Construction, the Supervisor Open Pit & Earthworks primary purpose is to supervise, coordinate, and schedule the activities of all mine operations personnel to optimize utilization of resources and achieve overall mine operations production objectives.PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIESReporting to the Superintendent, Construction or Designate, duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Promoting a safety-first culture while providing effective leadership and coaching to meet production goals;
  • Assist in developing SOP’s and work instructions related to open pit and construction activities and oversee compliance with site management plans;
  • Ensuring adherence to Open Pit mine regulations (WSCC), identify the need for safety training, completion of safety and hazard assessments, and participate in investigations and see to a timely resolution of any safety concerns;
  • Maintain a shift log and daily record of construction, Open Pit production, and related support activities;
  • Ensure that the work schedules are correctly implemented and communicated, and work to resolve any deficiencies or challenges that may arise to ensure jobs are completed as per the schedule;
  • Accountable for their team’s safety and ability to meet development goals by prioritizing short and long-term planning objectives;
  • Mentor and development of team members within the department;
  • Assist Superintendent when necessary in the overall management of day-to-day tasks;
  • Communicate with various stakeholders regarding mobile equipment readiness and issues, project technical specifications and requirements, and QAQC resolutions; and
  • Participate in pre & post operational inspections on equipment and report all deficiencies to Superintendent.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONSThe successful candidate will have prior experience working in a remote camp setting with limited access to resources. Additionally, they will have:
  • Valid or the ability to obtain an WSCC Nunavut Supervisor Certificate Level 2;
  • Valid Standard First Aid w/ CPR and AED;
  • Previous experience working remote sub arctic environments;
  • Minimum 5 years in an Open Pit and/or construction mining environment;
  • Ability to prioritize projects and manage time; and
  • Strong coaching and motivational talent.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITSFor informational purposes, the salary for this role is $125,000.00 for 2184 scheduled hours in a work year.
