At Rio Tinto, it begins with you.We are looking for a Communities and Social Performance Advisor with strong interpersonal and proven strategic skills to contribute to our Aluminium division’s CSP team in Northwest, British Columbia. With a global reach, the opportunities to develop and grow your career are broad and exciting.Reporting to the Manager, Communities and Social Performance, and working in an interesting and exciting environment within the Health, Safety, Environment and Communities function, you will be:
  • Acting as a key representative of Rio Tinto in developing and enhancing its relationships with communities, including our Indigenous partners within the area of BC Works Operations
  • Developing & implementing strategic community engagement plans to support business objectives and create long lasting partnerships in the region
  • Strengthening partnerships with community representatives
  • Support communication, video, written communication and social media to share information on Rio Tinto’s BC works operation
  • Representing Rio Tinto at stakeholder engagement meetings or special events, which may be occur outside of regular working hours or days.

  • Post-secondary education
  • Highly motivated and strong people engagement skills – empathetic and excellent listening skills
  • Experience working independently and as part of a team, exercising sound judgment, and managing multiple on-going projects while meeting critical deadlines is essential.
  • Demonstrated experience working with stakeholders and involved in community engagement programs
  • Demonstrated competencies in problem solving of complex matters, from identification of objectives and determine the process to achieve desirable outcomes.
  • Experience working with a broad range of audiences – including First Nations, local businesses, and the public– to achieve successful, mutually desired outcomes.
  • Capacity to navigate changing environments
