Start your journey with Sodexo, as we continue to grow across Canada!Job DescriptionHow You’ll Make an Impact:The Assistant Accommodations Manager is to assist the General Manager responsible for successfully coordinating and directing all activities concerning housekeeping, janitorial, laundry and luggage’s valet operations. The goals to be achieved are the highest possible client and customer satisfaction levels, employee relations and employee retention programs and required financial results. This will require consistent and continual monitoring of employees with a focus on efficiency to manage in this fast-paced department.

  • Responsible for conveying policies and procedures to employees. Daily communication of safety talks, departmental goals and expectations through daily staff meetings.
  • Responsible for accurate record keeping and maintenance of files to ensure documentation of all discussions and corrective actions of employees.
  • Responsible for having a thorough understanding of union agreements and follow the guidelines of the Employee Handbook.
  • In conjunction with Human Resources, review resumes and assist in conducting interviews of potential department candidates.
  • Lead and supervise the housekeeping and janitorial team.
  • Recognize the importance of hands on guidance with employees and leadership through continuous interactions and visual confirmation of completed tasks through random audits.
  • Provide continuous, timely and specific correction actions, set goals for employees and ensure follow through.
  • Interface proactively with the Procurement Manager in sourcing products, materials and supplies.
  • Conduct inventory as required by the unit and review the summaries to look for discrepancies.
  • Assist in training and teaching of all housekeeping and janitorial staff to ensure unit standards are consistently met.
  • Ensure in the cleanliness and sanitation of all housekeeping and janitorial areas. Assist in the development of checklists and training of staff in using these tools and audits to confirm that standards are met.
  • Responsible for ensuring that the cleanliness of the guest rooms and common camp areas meet client and unit expectations.
  • Aware of the room occupancy, check-ins, and check-outs for each day to ensure that room requirements are met.
  • Perform daily room inspections to ensure of a high quality of cleanliness.
  • Responsible for ensuring that housekeeping and janitorial employees are supplied with the correct tools to complete their tasks.
  • Assignment and management of daily workload for housekeeping and janitorial team to ensure guestroom quality and completion of all assigned rooms.
  • Perform all tasks according to safe work practices, following instructions and using the proper equipment for the job. E
  • Actively participate in Sodexo’s Health and Safety program by undergoing safety training/education as required.
QualificationsWhat You’ll Need to Succeed:
  • 3-5 years of Accommodation management or relevant experience
  • High School diploma
  • Hospitality diploma or related experience
  • Excellent service spirit
  • Team management –including recruiting, training, performance management, engaging large teams (80 people +); role model in behaviors
  • Negotiating skills and demonstrated ability to facilitate conversations with a positive outcome
  • Ability to work to high standards, policies, and procedures
  • Must possess strong team building skills: friendly, outgoing, customer service oriented
  • Administrative Skills (scheduling, ordering, inventory, payroll, program management, etc.)
  • Strong ability to manage and promote a safe work environment and lead a safety culture
  • Effective planning, organizing, and time management skills
  • Remote travel to site by plane
