Powered by passionate people, we bring the right teams with the right skills together – offering both experience and regional expertise so companies can operate their day to day, confidently and successfully.Job DescriptionWHAT’S THE JOBBased in a world class Horizon North camp facility, the regular shift for this position is 20 days on and 10 days off, with 12-hour workdays. Transportation is provided to site from a pickup point in Edmonton.The Manager, Janitorial Operations, provides daily field support to our cleaning teams. Support provided includes training, working with clients, inspections of teams performance and compliance within our usual high standards, assistance with troubleshooting customer requests/complaints, and coordinating site visits of accounts.This position is safety sensitive and requires drug, alcohol, and fit to work testing as a condition of employment.Your work will include:

  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and development to all Janitorial employees
  • Ensure Horizon North standards pertaining to labor costs, quality, consistency, cleanliness, and safe work practices are maintained and upheld daily
  • Determine staffing requirement based on project requirements and organize staff change and rotation
  • Liaise with and obtain feedback from clients daily
  • Implement company programs and manage operations of the division in a manner consistent with federal, provincial, local laws and regulations, and Horizon North policies
  • Monitor project revenue, expense management, and project profitability.
  • Purchase supplies, and arrange for outside services, e.g. deliveries, laundry, maintenance, trash collection
  • Meet with clients, identify new service opportunities to increase revenue
Safety
  • Maintain, communicate and assist in the development and facilitation of site Emergency Response Plans (ERPs) and table-top drills.
  • Facilitate, maintain, train and distribute various Horizon North HSE Toolbox resources including: Job Hazard Analysis (JHA), Field Level Risk Assessment (FLRA), and Behavior Based Observation (BBO).
  • Conduct and/or be directly involved in incident investigations, as will be required depending on their severity.
  • Liaise closely with equipment operators, drivers, contractors, vendors and other personnel to ensure that Horizon North’s HSE mandates, safety culture and vision are adhered to at all times.
  • Ensure that any safety concerns are immediately raised with the HSE Manager.
  • Remain conversant with local, provincial and federal OH&S codes, regulation and laws, and update staff accordingly.
  • Liaise closely with the HSE Manager, Workers’ Compensation Board (WCB) Claims Coordinator and Horizon North’s extended HSE team.
  • Inspections of buildings in to support quality assurance programs
  • Some field work including driving and conducting site visits, audits, and HSEQ support at some of our regional facilities 2-5 hours away.

  • Completion of post-secondary education in Hospitality or Business Administration or related experience
  • A minimum of 3 years Sales/Customer Service
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in Hospitality or commercial cleaning
  • A minimum of 1 years supervisory experience
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite and Property Management Software
  • Expert knowledge of the principles and practices within the hospitality profession
  • Experiential knowledge of people management and conflict resolution
  • Successful candidate MUST obtain a 80% make or higher on the mandatory WHMIS test (Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System)
