Job Description

EXCITING ASSISTANT COACH OPPORTUNITY!The Kitimat Marlin Swim Club (KMSC), an active thriving club in the heart of BC’s biggest growth region, is currently seeking a charismatic and energetic candidate to join our team as an Assistant Coach for the 2022-2023 season and beyond. This role offers a Part-Time schedule during the afternoon and early evening hours.The club has approximately 70 members from Novice to National level and swims in a beautiful 6 lane 25-meter pool. The club and facility have a Colorado timing system and starting blocks with back foot platforms for track starts.Our ideal candidate will be a talented individual with a passion for swimming. An Assistant Coach will have experience working with children and youth and a strong interest in helping others to grow their skills.DUTIESReporting to the Head Coach, the ideal candidate will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following duties:

  • Facilitation of practices sessions, training camps, swim meets and team building activities for ALL age group swimmers;
  • Club administrative duties as required;
  • Attending competitive events where club swimmers are participating as required;
  • Provide leadership and support to swimmers throughout all club activities;
  • In collaboration with the Head Coach, engage in the development of the club for the future and long-term success.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSThe ideal candidate must have:
  • The ability to obtain a clear Criminal Record Check including the Vulnerable Sector;
  • Valid Driver’s Licence for transportation purposes.
  • An ability to be an inspiration for swimmers in a positive and encouraging way;
  • Good leadership, communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Experience with technical and/or competitive swimming;
  • In pursuit of, or willingness to complete the required coaching certifications.
REMUNERATION AND BENEFITSThe successful candidate will receive the following remuneration and benefits:
  • An hourly wage that is commensurate with coaching qualifications and experience as noted above;
  • A position of leadership in a club established in 1965, with many former swimmers’ names in banners on our wall;
