More information can be found here.Provide leadership, supervision and training in a dynamic and changing environmentThe Regional Economic Operations Branch provide direct front-line service and support to communities, businesses and regional development organizations, and also develops and delivers policies, programs and initiatives that support regional economic development. The REO Branch includes a network of economic development staff that are located throughout the province focused on providing targeted responses to the needs of communities.The position provides service and support to local governments to advance their local and regional economic development initiatives, facilitates the development of private and public sector partnerships and industry alliances, negotiates agreements and advises on funding programs and other opportunities to help strengthen and diversify the regional economy.The Regional Manager is responsible for advancing a diverse range of initiatives which cross the mandates of other provincial ministries, federal departments, non-government organizations and regional stakeholders. By providing insight and intelligence regarding local issues, the Regional Manager informs and influences decisions made by government that can affect economic development in a specific area.The Regional Manager is responsible for advancing a diverse range of rural development initiatives that may span key industry sectors, including but not limited to forestry, mining, energy, oil and gas, fisheries, retail, construction, information technology, tourism, transportation, manufacturing.In addition, the position identifies emerging economic issues, assesses the competitive market place, analyzes industry sector market trends in the region, and advises on government policy and program development.The Regional Manager is the senior Ministry representative on rural economic development for the region.   • University degree, certificate or college diploma, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3 years’ experience in leading/conducting sector and stakeholder consultation and leading multi-party discussions to resolve issues.
  • 3 years’ experience building strategic partnerships and facilitating the development of collaborative relationships.
  • 3 years’ experience managing complex projects.
  • Preference for experience working in a local or regional economic development setting.
