The REO Branch includes a network of economic development staff that are located throughout the province focused on providing targeted responses to the needs of communities.The position provides service and support to local governments to advance their local and regional economic development initiatives, facilitates the development of private and public sector partnerships and industry alliances, negotiates agreements and advises on funding programs and other opportunities to help strengthen and diversify the regional economy.The Regional Manager is responsible for advancing a diverse range of initiatives which cross the mandates of other provincial ministries, federal departments, non-government organizations and regional stakeholders. By providing insight and intelligence regarding local issues, the Regional Manager informs and influences decisions made by government that can affect economic development in a specific area.The Regional Manager is responsible for advancing a diverse range of rural development initiatives that may span key industry sectors, including but not limited to forestry, mining, energy, oil and gas, fisheries, retail, construction, information technology, tourism, transportation, manufacturing.In addition, the position identifies emerging economic issues, assesses the competitive market place, analyzes industry sector market trends in the region, and advises on government policy and program development.The Regional Manager is the senior Ministry representative on rural economic development for the region.
