Job Description

Position SummaryTo learn & provide Engineering support for the Process Control Instrumentation, Control as part of the LNG Canada Operations Maintenance and Engineering Technical team.The Maintenance and Engineering support team is responsible for ensuring all physical plant and equipment is reliable, compliant, well maintained and safe.Will be part of the team to support production and manage LNG Canada processes and reliability improvement programs of the plant and equipment.This position will be the barrier owner for PACO system including Process Control Domain Integrity, ensuring the performance of all safety critical elements meets the PACO performance standards.Organizational StructureThe incumbent will report to the PACO Team Lead.Key AccountabilitiesThis role will be responsible for the provision of PACO Engineering support and on the job training to the LNGC Plant. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Construction/Execute phase. Engineer in Training support senior engineers in executing the following scope:
  • Walk downs to check that all of the field Instrumentation are installed per the appropriate standards.
  • Participate in System & Sub-system Construction completion Walkdowns, Systems RFC & RFSU ITRs status.
  • Filling in the ITRs & preparing Redline Mark-ups.
  • Witnessing the commissioning of PACO Installation reports according to the specified standards.
  • Preparation of Punchlist capture during walkdowns, Close working with Vendor, Construction & Commissioning Teams as necessary.
  • Participate and assist in identifying installed Instrumentation access and maintenance risks, mitigating actions, follow up and implement them to ALARP.
  • During Commissioning:
  • Collaborate with Commissioning team during Cause &Effect Tests, Control & Functional Tests - Auxiliary/Sub Systems and
  • prepare reports for sign off as necessary. Provide engineering support to the commissioning team to ensure the required quality of commissioning of the vibro-monitoring and mechanical equipment
  • Participate in Rotating Equipment Surge Test(s)
  • Actively participate in delivering by flawless project deliver process
  • Assist in troubleshooting and diagnosis of PACO devices during start up, commissioning and operation, ensuring balance of plant is ready to operate reliability.
  • Preparation for Operate Phase
  • Assist in implementing the maintenance program for the operate phase to drive balance of cost and long-term reliability
  • Assists in implementation of Digitalization of PACO devices using the latest technology to optimize test intervals for MEC (Manage Equipment Care) strategy.
  • Validate the spare parts and preservation of spare parts are in place.
  • During Operate phase
  • Take ownership of PACO equipment of a selected process units and:
    • Follow principles of the “living Program” for maintenance to ensure the PACO maintenance strategies are followed.
    • Validate the effectiveness of the maintenance program in maintaining the safety critical elements.
  • Follow and prepare design related modifications in line with the Management of Change (MoC) process.
  • Assist in developing, maintaining and optimizing Pro-active Technical Monitoring (PTM) for PACO devices.
  • Execute the PTM scope for your process units and equipment and develop scopes of work for corrective action.
  • Contributing to the scope of Shutdown and Major Maintenance activities
  • Contributing to the strategies for managing risk-based maintenance including condition monitoring programs.
  • Participating in and contributing to incident investigations;
  • Develop skills and competencies with the view of achieving Technical Authority Level 3 following the graduate and advance technical skills development program.
Experience neededNot necessary, but a course or internship related to one or combination of any of the Instrumentation, Control, Electrical or Chemical Engineering related to design and/or operations, is desirableKnowledge, Languages, Skills & Attributes
  • Graduate in Instrumentation, Control, Electrical or Chemical Engineering – fresh Engineer or with relevant experience, typically in Oil & Gas operational engineering support role.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Willing to learn and take efforts to continuously improve the technical as well leadership attributes.
  • High level interpersonal skills. Network with the SMEs in different disciplines and seek for mentorship to lay down a pathway for career development.
  • Willing to achieve the Professional Engineer accreditation in the Province of British Columbia in a timely manner.
