We also gratefully acknowledge the First Nations in our project area and along our shipping route.Our Vision: To be the leading LNG export company in British Columbia and the world.Our Mission: To set the benchmark for economically, environmentally, and socially responsible LNG development in Canada.Our Values: Respect, collaboration, integrity, and safety.Come join the team making Canadian history!About the RoleReporting to the Environment and Compliance Lead, the Environment and Compliance Advisor is responsible for managing and assuring environmental compliance for the LNG Canada Asset during CSURU (Commissioning, startup and ramp up) and Operate phase in Kitimat, BC.The Environment and Compliance Advisor provides day to day support to the LNG Canada Asset team to ensure that environmental compliance is integrated into planning and ongoing operations.The Environment and Compliance Advisor acts as an environmental compliance focal for the Asset, which includes implementation of environment and compliance management plans and systems, management of regulatory notifications and environmental reporting, assurance activities, and addressing compliance events, as required.To succeed with us in the HSSE Department, we need your enthusiasm to:

You will use your expertise to:During Project Execute Phase (module fabrication, pre-commissioning, commissioning, start up, ramp up):
  • Liaise closely with the Execute team to ensure all permitting, compliance and environmental aspects are in place for Operate phase.
  • Liaise with the execute phase Regulatory Compliance team to develop the asset compliance management system.
  • Lead the development of and support approval process for Operate environmental management plans, procedures, and work method statements.
  • Technical review of permit applications and implementation of environmental conditions and commitments upon receipt.
  • Work closely with external relations team to provide technical support.
  • Ensure applicable HSSE Management System elements are incorporated into Operate phase work processes and management plans.
  • Identify any design or construction defects and work closely with the Brownfield team to implement solutions and mitigate associated environmental/compliance risks.
  • Provide input to the asset risk register and associated annual work planning processes.
  • Development of processes and tools to measure emissions/discharges to meet internal and external compliance requirements.
  • Develop a comprehensive environmental monitoring and reporting program for Operate phase based on internal and external compliance requirements.
  • Integrate environmentally critical elements and compliance obligations into the maintenance strategy.
  • Provide environmental and compliance components to support development of asset learning management system.
  • Work closely with Operations and Maintenance to develop Operate spill/waste management systems.
  • Provide environmental and compliance technical input to all Operate phase contracts.
  • Participate in handover of asset systems from execute phase at Total Care Custody and Control (TCCC), ensuring that all environmental and compliance requirements are in place.
During Operate (run and maintain) Phase:
  • Implement and assure the asset compliance management system.
  • Manage environmental monitoring and reporting programs to ensure internal and external compliance requirements are met.
  • Implement asset environmental management plans, procedures, and work method statements
  • Support delivery of environmental and compliance training as part of the asset learning management system.
  • Work closely with Operations and Maintenance to implement and assure spill/waste management systems.
  • Provides guidance and direction for flaring and emissions monitoring and management.
  • Interface with local regulators, manage site specific permit requirements and deliverables
  • Support management of site and marine spill mitigation and response plans.
  • Monitor regulations for updates and identify any amendments required for permits and authorizations.
  • Support management of the environmental and compliance aspects of the HSSE budget and associated contracts.
  • Provide support for environmental incidents including interpretation of regulations and follow-up with regulatory bodies.
  • Manage delivery, reporting, assurance, and improvement related to the following relevant HSSE Management System elements; including Biodiversity; GHG & EM; Soil and Groundwater; Volatile Organic Compounds; Water in the Environment; Flaring and Venting; Ozone Depleting Substances; SOx and NOx; Waste
  • Provide technical support to the HSSE incident reporting and investigation process. Participate and/or lead incident investigations, where required.
To be successful, you will have:
  • Minimum bachelor’s degree or Technical Diploma; ideally in environmental engineering or science.
  • 8 years of progressive environment industrial experience including management of environmental monitoring and regulatory reporting programs, preferred in oil and gas production.
  • Strong understanding of applicable provincial and federal environmental regulations preferably in oil & gas production and preferably in BC.
  • Excellent reporting, permit application and implementation experience.
  • Knowledgeable in air emissions, water management, effluent, fisheries, and waste components of industrial operations in BC, preferably oil and gas.
  • Strong data analytical and management skills.
  • Qualified environmental professional or equivalent an asset.
  • LNG project and/or operations experience highly regarded.
  • Professional, pragmatic and solutions focused approach to risk management.
  • Ability to communicate complex information effectively to multiple stakeholders with varying degrees of understanding.
  • Excellent people management skills.
  • Ability to work closely in a cross functional and multi-cultural capacity to drive continual improvement in HSSE performance for the asset.
  • Experience transitioning from CSU to Operations is considered an asset

QualificationsThis role requires that you:
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada (i.e., by way of Canadian citizenship, permanent residency, or valid work permit)
  • Know that this role is based in Kitimat, BC.
  • Relocate to Kitimat/Terrace, BC
  • Know that during the Execute phase you will work 50hrs of work, not necessarily every Saturday and Sunday off.
  • During Operate: 40hrs per week/5/2.
  • Know that during Campaign Maintenance and Turnaround events will require additional effort including longer hours and shift work
  • Are willing to work outdoors during inclement weather in all seasons including heavy snowfall and periods of heavy rain.
  • Are able to climb ladders and stairs, work at heights and in confined spaces. Plant design conditions provide structures that are significantly taller than common in industry, individuals must be comfortable with heights as well as travel to and from the workface at heights.
