Job Description

Matrix is hiring an HR & Health and Safety Advisor for a client in Kitimat, BC. The HR & Health and Safety Advisor provides a broad range of HR support and consulting services to multiple Distribution Centers within the Contract Logistics Business Unit, serving as the primary Human Resources contact and advisor for management and employees. This Manager implements and optimizes best HR and people practices establishing a positive employee and candidate experience. This position supports management in achieving business goals and operational objectives. Also mitigates risks and ensures legal compliance. Partners with HR peers in the delivery of regional/national HR strategies and projects. This Manage, with the support of the Distribution Centre Manager, will manage and have responsibility for the implementation, ongoing maintenance of, and compliance to the company management systems within their designated Branch for quality, safety, and health & security. The salary range is $65K-$75K annually, based on experience.Responsibilities:

  • Coordination of Training activities.
  • Subject matter expertise for Quality, Safety Health, Environment, and Security matters within the branch.
  • Performance of self-audits for compliance.
  • Implementation coordination and responsibility for new/revised standards and procedures.
  • Communication and re-communication within the branch or relevant subject matter related to QSHE.
  • Attend training and meetings from the National QSHE team.
  • Maintain an active and effective Corrective and Preventative Actions (CAPA) Program (TIP) to include the sufficient performance of Root Cause Analysis, and an ongoing review to determine the effectiveness of the corrective action.
  • Responsible for TIPs issues from the branch and is responsible to close the TIPs.
  • Maintain document control and retention for all local forms, work instructions, profiles, and customer SOPs through Qdocs.
  • Maintain approved suppliers list, track, and validate suppliers through supplier management tools.
  • Maintain QSHE training matrix and plan, training records, and certificates.
  • As required, maintain branch shared drive for all documents and records.
  • Coach local management to reach, maintain and continuously improve QSHE standards.
  • Provide QSHE topics for local management meetings and provide feedback.
  • Run BOXI reports for audit preparation.
Health and Safety:
  • Ensure the sub-set of responsibilities assigned to a JHSC & Safety Chair& working with the branch JHSC Safety Committee are in place for proper application of the KN Canada Health and Safety program.
Environment:
  • Support management in the execution of company business strategies and the operational performance on site, to align HR strategy and actions with business objectives.
  • Partners with site leadership to ensure a positive work environment and strong employee engagement.
  • Provide coaching and counseling to managers regarding HR, performance & people management, and transformation.
  • Establish and maintain a positive and engaging relationship with all employees.
  • Execute and lead new business implementations and transitions for respective sites from an HR perspective.
  • Attend meetings with customers, including presentations on HR topics where required.
  • Provide day-to-day advice, counsel, and guidance to ensure fair and consistent employment practices and follow-up on consistent compliance regarding legislation, policies, and procedures.
  • Conduct investigations and recommend and/or develop solutions to employee complaints or claims of unfair treatment, harassment, and/or discrimination.
  • Participate in the preparation of the legal defence, as necessary.
  • Other duties assigned by the Company.
Requirements:
  • Minimum 3 years working in a similar environment.
  • Working knowledge of QSHE Tool's preferred (TIP Tool, Qdocs, Incident Reporting, Security Reporting Tools, Training Tools).
  • A College degree in Business Discipline is preferred.
  • Education in HR management.
  • Familiarity with, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 18001, and EN 9100 (as applicable) standards.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word/Excel/PowerPoint/Outlook).
